Lazy Sunday with Invading Spinach and Heat-Filled Shawarma || #DashOutSunday
Today was an easy day. One of those days were we make a quick decision of what to cook. And then we put 2 pieces of chicken breasts outside to thaw out. A visit to the spinach invasion is also part of that process. I could not buy any other leafy greens ever again and just live of this spinach. It literally grows everywhere like a weed.
So with the chicken thawing out we lazily decided on making fried chicken, popcorn chicken to be exact. A few minutes later I got even lazier and said to @tanjakolader: Hey, popcorn chicken is still too much work, how about we do Shawarma chicken instead. She sort of nodded and said yeah.
First step was to pick the spinach leaves, which was probably the most exercise I had today. Tanja washed them and they were ready to go.
After that I seasoned the pieces of chicken until they where in the realm of shawarma. A bit of salt, minced garlic, minced chilies, coriander powder, cumin powder, fresh lime juice, and black pepper did the trick. After sitting for a while all of that was then thrown into a pan full of melting butter.
Simultaneously the spinach was thrown into a put which had butter and garlic pre-heated. This way the cooking is done even faster. As you may have noticed, the lazy Sunday was in full effect.
Meanwhile, some chopped bell pepper and tomatoes were patiently awaiting their purpose in life, which was to be added to the shawarma chicken and make it magnificent.
So that's exactly the fate they received:
Stirred it around a bit and that was done! The smell was delicious but intense in terms of heat (chilies and black pepper)
The spinach also needed some turning around to wither a bit and become soft. So in about 10 minutes it was ready for the likes of Popeye himself.
And that was our #DashOutSunday for the day. You would think I'd even be too lazy to write about it, but luckily this doesn't feel like a chore.
So, how lazy was your Sunday?
yummy :)

I like the seasoning on that chicken, my kinda taste. My wife makes a chicken thing sometimes where she boils the chicken in soy sauce and puts it in the fridge to ferment . Had some this morning and that chicken taste was ugghhg . Culture can be a bitch LOL
lol, culture difference can be a bitch sometimes indeed. My family and Tanja's family are from different ethnic groups. So culturally there were some things I had to get used to, but not much, as all these customs become less important with each generation.
