Freedom on the Blockchain || How Complex is it Really?

Freedom of speech, the right to do whatever you want. These are all concepts that are not so simple. Sure you can do whatever you want, but you should be aware of possible consequences. Sure, you can be physically free, but are you free mentally? Spiritually? Or even financially? Freedom means not being tied to a certain something or someone against your own will. To be free in living your own life on your own terms.

Freedom on social media is also a controversial topic. Whenever a centralized authority feels like you are not in line with the status quo of what is politically correct, you are faulted and censored. This is a fact on popular mainstream social media platforms. If you have freedom, you take responsibility for your actions. These mainstream centralized platforms like to play both sides on that topic, as they want to limit your freedom of expression, but they do not want to take responsibility for the incorrect things you may say or do. This is a bit on the unfair side, because the person or entity who decides over freedom, owns the responsibility.

On the blockchain things are a bit different. Freedom is ensured, and is applauded, even embraced. But even here it's not always as simple. Take for example a person who uses his or her Hive account to spam others continuously. The guardians that be may silence that account and decide to auto-downvote it until the end of time. But what if the spammer decides to turn over a new leaf and becomes a true poet and blog writer, but yet the downvotes automatically rain down upon. Is that person than limited in freedom? Can he contact the auto-downvoter? What if that downvoter's is unreachable? Or does the freedom lie in the ability to create another account and start over?

These are all questions that arise. Freedom is a tricky and sensitive subject, and even more so an absolute undeniable of it. None of us have all the answers, but one thing is certain. The blockchain is a far better step in the right direction compared to the modern mainstream centralized alternative.

What about you? Are you aware of your freedom and the responsibilities that go with it?

Electronic-terrorism, voice to skull and neuro monitoring on Hive and Steem. You can ignore this, but your going to wish you didnt soon. This is happening whether you believe it or not. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

He's talking about you, dipshit. You will never get people to pay attention to what you have to say with this spammy shit. Enjoy being downvoted into oblivion. It's not censorship, it's community feedback on your "content". We don't like spam.

Completely agree. Freedom Congress with the price of responsibility and consequences. It's important to understand that, though everything is permissible, it is not necessarily beneficial. So, not only do we have the freedom to do and say what we want, but we also have the freedom of reaping the consequences of our actions - both good and bad.

Exactly, freedom, the consequences and the responsibilities surrounding it are a package deal in a healthy situation.
