One good turn deserves another

My culture preaches kindness, and I can say I learned the word "good turn deserves another," but aside from that, I've met people whose acts of kindness are amazing. It pays to be kind; it is like sowing seed that will be harvested in the future. Funny enough, it might not be you who will enjoy the reward of your good deeds, but your unborn generations. And I'm sure no one would want their wards to suffer, and this is why kindness is a good seed to sow.

Hive gave me a good friend whose kindness is immeasurable; sometimes I wondered how he was that way. When I met him, he did something that I would never do for someone I just met. He wasn't afraid of me disappearing after getting what I needed from him; his selfless acts amaze me every day.

Sometimes ago, I was in a debt,I did a business that didn't yield a good return and I had to refund the money I borrowed for the business. I contacted some of my friends and help wasn't forth coming,I had to think of who I can turn to again for help.

I just met this good friend of mine through hive, "how would I ask him for money at this early stage of friendship", this was my thought. I looked around and I saw that I had no choice,I chatted him up and explained my ordeal to him. Truth be told I wasn't expecting a favorable reply.

He told me he would see what he can do about it,few minutes later, I'm not sure it's up to an hour, he asked for my bank details and sent the money. For some minutes I was dumbfounded wondering if it was real, behold it was real and his act of kindness that day made me respect him more.

I took my time to study if he was faking this kind-hearted person, but no, that is who he is. I got good testimonies from a friend of his with whom they have been together for years, and I got to know that your natural self will always prevail even when you try to change to who you are not.

His kind act was a pathfinder for me because anytime I needed to show kindness and I wanted to opt-out or be reluctant about it, I always remembered a man who helped me as a total stranger without thinking twice about what the consequences may be. Then why shouldn't I do the same for people who need my help?

He taught me this value, and I appreciated it a lot. Although I hear the preaching of kindness every day because my grandmother is a philanthropist, that woman can give anything out to anyone without feeling bothered, and so can my parents, but this man's good heart surprised me the most.

Many desist from doing good because of past experiences. I believe everyone has come across one ungrateful soul who took one's kind heart for weakness and repaid good with evil. This might be some people's reason why they chose to abort good deeds, but one thing I believe is that one's natural self cannot be faked.

I've once said that I would stop doing good and not care about anyone because of how I was treated in the past, but my friend's kind act changed my perspective on life and encouraged me to be who I am irrespective of what I've been through and how I've been treated in the past, and I respect him for that. He made me understand that good deeds are ways of showing love.

Kindness paves the way for success, happiness, and good living; why would anyone jeopardize that for wickedness? Kindness brings peace of mind; doing good is all it takes to cause one's heaven to be open, and his one act of kindness inspired me to be kind to others, not minding the relationship.
