Avances de Baby Bee en el Centro de Desarrollo Infantil (Esp/Ing)

Mis queridos hivers, hoy les voy a hablar sobre el progreso de nuestra Baby Bee en el Centro de Desarrollo Infantil. En vista de que Alma había pasado casi un mes en cama por su operación, no había adquirido un adecuado tono muscular para su edad, además, su cuello y columna vertebral aún estaban débiles. Por ello, nos dirigimos a la institución y solicitamos una cita, pero dada la cantidad de niños que son atendidos, tuvimos que esperar dos semanas antes de iniciar la evaluación previa, el diagnóstico e inicio del tratamiento.

My dear winters, today I am going to talk to you about the progress of our Baby Bee at the Child Development Center. Since Alma had spent almost a month in bed due to her operation, she had not acquired adequate muscle tone for her age, and her neck and spine were still weak. Therefore, we went to the institution and requested an appointment, but given the number of children being cared for, we had to wait two weeks before beginning the prior evaluation, diagnosis and initiation of treatment.

El día llegó y cumplimos con los requisitos solicitados, incluyendo el informe médico y la orden para realizar las terapias. El cuidado con la pequeña era mucho mayor, pues hicimos hincapié en su delicada operación. Nos hicieron una entrevista sobre lo ocurrido y los especialistas anotaron la información en el expediente. En esta primera cita acudí con mi esposo y mi padre. El equipo a cargo del caso, tras examinar a Alma, determinaron que se debían realizar varios ejercicios para fortalecer sus músculos y huesos, otros eran para fijar la atención, sujetar y voltearse. El terapista nos mostró cómo hacerlos para que posteriormente continuáramos en casa.

The day arrived and we met the requested requirements, including the medical report and the order to perform the therapies. The care with the little one was much greater, since we emphasized her delicate operation. They interviewed us about what happened and the specialists wrote down the information in the file. On this first appointment I went with my husband and my father. The team in charge of the case, after examining Alma, determined that several exercises should be performed to strengthen her muscles and bones, others were to focus attention, hold and turn. The therapist showed us how to do them so that we could continue at home later.

Quizás lo de mayor preocupación era la recurrencia de empuñar con el pulgar hacia adentro, ya que esto significaba que los dos hemisferios cerebrales todavía no estaban funcionando de la manera correcta, por lo que había que tomar medidas, así que desde ese momento, empezanos a realizar algunos ejercicios correctivos. Adicional a ello, recomendaron que la bebé debía dormir en su cuna, con el fin de establecer el respeto del espacio y la independencia de cada quien. En este punto, se presentó una dificultad porque la niña no quería dormir en su colchón, por tal razón, se sugirió cambiarlo por uno más cómodo. Eso hicimos y ahora Alma descansa plácidamente algunas horas, pues todavía se levanta dos o tres veces en la madrugada a comer.

Perhaps of greatest concern was the recurrence of thumb-in grip, as this meant that the two cerebral hemispheres were still not functioning correctly, so action had to be taken, so from that moment on, we started to perform some corrective exercises. In addition to this, they recommended that the baby should sleep in her crib, in order to establish respect for space and the independence of each person. At this point, a difficulty arose because the girl did not want to sleep on her mattress, for this reason, it was suggested to change it for a more comfortable one. We did that and now Alma rests peacefully for a few hours, because she still gets up two or three times in the morning to eat.

Igualmente, recomendaron adquirir algunos juguetes para estimular sus sentidos, cuyas características debían ser: coloridos, con luces, de diferentes texturas y que emitieran sonidos. Hemos conseguido algunos y también les regalaron otros. La bebé ha contado con mucha suerte en ese sentido. Actualmente, seguimos ejercitando a la pequeña diariamente. Alma ha evolucionado de forma satisfactoria, pero debemos continuar con el proceso de estimulación temprana. En enero debemos volver al centro de rehabilitación para mostrar los avances en este período. Vamos con pasos firmes, nuestra prioridad siempre será la salud de la pequeña abejita.

Likewise, they recommended purchasing some toys to stimulate their senses, whose characteristics should be: colorful, with lights, of different textures and that made sounds. We have gotten some and they also gave them others. The baby has been very lucky in that sense. Currently, we continue to exercise the little girl daily. Alma has evolved satisfactorily, but we must continue with the early stimulation process. In January we must return to the rehabilitation center to show the progress in this period. We are going with firm steps, our priority will always be the health of the little bee.
