Greetings friends and members of the community. In this post I want to share with you a great experience that I was lucky enough to enjoy just a few days ago: visiting and getting to know Cayo Largo del Sur, a small key that belongs to the insular group of the Canarreos Archipelago, in the south of the island of Cuba.

En esta entrada les quiero compartir sobre una gran experiencia que tuve la suerte de disfrutar hace tan solo unos días: visitar y conocer Cayo Largo del Sur, un pequeño cayo perteneciente al grupo insular del Archipiélago de los Canarreos, al sur de la isla de Cuba.
This key is well known and admired as a tourist destination among many things for its beautiful beaches, which are among the best in the country and the entire Caribbean area, and for the beauty of its coastal landscapes in an environment that allows the delight of sea lovers. Among these beautiful beaches, Playa Paraíso and Playa Sirena stand out, the latter considered by many as the best in all Cuba. Its sands are very unique because they are of chemical origin, of ooid aspect (which means egg-shaped), of calcic carbonate composition, being this area one of the four regions in the world of creation of oolitic sands.
Este cayo es muy conocido y admirado como destino turístico entre muchas cosas por sus hermosas playas, que figuran entre las mejores del país y de toda el área del Caribe, y por la belleza de sus paisajes costeros en un entorno que permite el deleite de los amantes del mar. Entre estas playas hermosas destacan la Playa Paraíso y la Playa Sirena, esta última considerada por muchos como la mejor de toda Cuba. Sus arenas son muy singulares pues son de origen químico, de aspecto ooide (que significa aspecto de huevo), de composición carbonatada cálcica, siendo esta zona una de las cuatro regiones en el mundo de creación de arenas oolíticas.
Another natural attraction of this place is its great wealth in terms of fauna, where the presence of the Cuban iguana and large populations of chelonians (turtles) of various species, including the loggerhead and the green turtle, which are preserved and studied in a chelonary located within one of the tourist facilities of the key.
Otro de los atractivos naturales de este lugar lo constituye su gran riqueza en sentido faunístico, donde destaca la presencia de la iguana cubana y de grandes poblaciones de quelonios (tortugas) de varias especies, entre las que se encuentra la caguama y la tortuga verde, que son preservadas y estudiadas en un quelonario situado dentro de una de las instalaciones turísticas del Cayo.
The tourist infrastructure in Cayo Largo del Sur is represented by the presence of high-class hotels and villas, marinas for fishing and boat rides, diving centers, all of which represent a great attraction for international tourism that annually brings a large number of visitors from various parts of the world, attracted by the beauty of the marine and coastal landscapes.
La infraestructura turística en Cayo Largo del Sur está representada por la presencia de hoteles y villas de altas categorías, marinas para la pesca y paseos en lanchas, centros de buceo, todo lo cual representa un gran atractivo para el turismo internacional que anualmente aporta gran cantidad de visitantes de varias partes del mundo, atraídos por la belleza de los paisajes marinos y costeros.
Cayo Largo del Sur is undoubtedly one of Cuba's paradisiacal sites, and a highly recommended place for all those who love nature and the beauty of the Caribbean.
Cayo Largo del Sur es sin duda uno de los sitios paradisíacos de Cuba, y un lugar altamente recomendable para todos aquellos amantes de la naturaleza y belleza del Caribe.

Thank you very much! It really is a very nice place. Much more than what you can see in pictures. It is one of the best tourist destinations in Cuba. Very nice beaches with beautiful oolitic sands that really look like miniature eggs. It also offers opportunities for diving and fauna lovers. Really very nice. Best regards.
