Greetings friends of this great community. I hope you all had an excellent weekend. On my part I tell you that on Saturday I had a day of geological field work with my colleagues (among them @arle99), as part of the work we do in the Geological Survey of Cuba.

It turns out that we are doing geoenvironmental work in the area of the upper part of the Almendares-Vento basin, in the province of Mayabeque. This basin is the main source of drinking water supply to the capital of Cuba, and precisely in the area we went to study are the main feeding zones of the subway aquifer mantle, which is established through numerous depressions in the ground of limestone rocks.

On this day we went to explore some of these depressions in the terrain, which in some cases are flooded forming lakes. Samples of the water in these lakes were taken for laboratory analysis to see if they might contain any contaminants that could endanger the subway aquifer.

So, it was a fruitful field day where we were able to enjoy the always wonderful nature and also perform a very important work for the management of natural resources for the welfare and safety of society and the environment. We hope that the results of the laboratory are encouraging. And I hope that my experience has been interesting for you. Best regards to all of you.

All images are my own, captured with my Samsung Galaxy A7 cellphone (Samsung SM-A750FN)
