Because water from PDAM Tirta Raharja did not flow, a number of residents hunted for drilled wells belonging to Drajat and Agus Mubarok, in Block C5 Sanggar Indah Banjaran, Nagrak Village, Cangkuang District, Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia. | Rakhmat Margajaya's photos

For two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 16-17 2021, water from PDAM Tirta Raharja did not flow. This is not strange, because it often happens.

What's interesting about this event is the reaction of the residents who were hit by Tirta Raharja water that didn't flow.

A number of residents of Block B3 Sanggar Indah Banjaran (SIB), Nagrak Village, Cangkuang District, Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia, agreed to drill wells.

One resident, Siti Umayah (53 years old) said that recently Tirta Raharja water often does not flow without notification.

If Tirta Raharja's water does not flow without notification, then all affected residents will have difficulties.

"If Tirta Raharja's water doesn't flow without notice, we're in trouble, because we don't have time to fetch water," Siti Umayah told me, November 17, 2021.

The plan, said the Head of SIB Blok B3 Mariyem (50 years old), the drilled well in its place will be jointly built.

"Thank God all the residents here agree," said Mariyem who lives next door to Siti Umayah.

So far, if Tirta Raharja's water doesn't flow, they hunt for drilled wells belonging to Drajat (53 years old) and Agus Mubarok (43 years old) who live in Block C5 SIB.

Meanwhile, according to my observations in the last two weeks, drilled wells belonging to Drajat and Agus Mubarok have become the target of a number of SIB residents.

They are grateful that there are private bore wells that can be used by the community.

Drajat and Agus Mubarok said they were happy, they didn't feel bothered, because their drilled well was useful for many people.
"In fact, I am happy with the number of people who take water from this drilled well," said Drajat.

Therefore, since the beginning, Drajat and Agus Mubarok have provided a faucet in front of their house so that anyone who needs water can easily get it.

Moreover, most of the water in Agus Mubarok's house has been wasted. The reason is, the faucet in the bathroom should not be closed, it must be left open so that the water continues to flow.

"If the faucet in my bathroom is closed, it will explode, because it will cause great pressure from the center of the water," explained the wellbore expert.

They used two ways to get water from drilled wells owned by Drajat and Agus Mubarok.

The first way, a number of residents took it directly by bringing empty gallons to be filled with drilled water belonging to Drajat or Agus Mubarok.

The second way, they install a long hose from the faucet provided by Drajat or Agus Mubarok until the water flows into the reservoir at his house.

However, said Agus Mubarok, those who can install the hose are those whose houses are lower than Agus's.

"Because the nature of the water is reduced. If someone's house is above a mine, the water cannot rise, because the water that comes out of this drilled well is without the help of a machine,” explained Agus Mubarok.

Although there are already drilled wells owned by Drajat and Agus Mubarok, all Tirta Raharja water customers at SIB hope that the water in their homes will continue to flow.

It's good that two of your neighbors have water that is accessible to everyone in your neighborhood. I hope the water challenges are soon fixed. Thank you for sharing what is happening in your area for Wednesday Walk. Cheers!
