This financial limit is disadvantageous
The economic situation of Nigeria is constantly a source of frustration. I really would like to rant about how it's affecting my business due to the $20 monthly debit card limit on international transactions and how the government expects you to remain poor and not be free to do what you want with your money even when you're financially stable to a certain degree.
The government wants you to remain poor, and when you break through this trap, they try to control how you spend your money and keep you in a sort of monetary prison- the government has made me feel that way and I'm literally losing my mind.
The financial institution of the country placed a $20 monthly limit on international transactions. This is indirectly saying you have no reason to have financial stability. You're expected to be poor and not be able to afford such. And when you can afford much more, they don't want you to spend it.
It's a shame init!
Limitation to my business
It's really frustrating considering that I'm running a business and I require clearance for international transactions up to $900 per day for up to 30 days. Unfortunately, this restriction has my hands tied and I've tried several means of bypassing this restriction- made several calls and inquiries from several banks, yet the effort has so far been equivalent to dust.
At some point, it looked like a solution came through in the form of a domiciliary account which would grant me access to a dollar card for international transactions without limit. Unfortunately, on inquiring from the bank, the features of the account defeat the purpose it is meant to serve as I wouldn't be able to deposit into the account from my personal account either via transfer or direct deposit at the bank and can only receive international payments.
I feel frustrated- the stress, sleepless nights, going here and there, getting info from banks, making lots of calls, and all that in a bid to bypass this restriction but it's just not working. I'm pretty sure this restriction doesn't apply to those politicians and well-known businessmen in the country due to something called favoritism. This country is so messed up.
Apart from this restriction which is frustrating, it's been a blackout where I stay since the month of January and I've been spending too much on fuel so I can power my generator for work to commence. With the recent fuel scarcity and increase in fuel price, my fuel expenses have increased terribly and are affecting me badly. I feel choked, this country is killing me, killing my business.
Apart from my personal businesses, as much as I'd like to top up my engagement here on LeoFinance, I can't. I have plans of making ten quality comments every day in a bid to increase my visibility and contribute to the platform in my own way, but the absence of a stable power supply is a source of setback for me, all thanks to zero electricity and having to manage fuel for business and all. This economy is constantly going down the drain.
