Today's breakfast | # beans cake (akara)
Hello hive bloggers how are you all doing today, trust that you are all doing great. Today I had akara which is widely known as beans cake for breakfast and I want to share with you all the process of making it, the beans cake is usually sold by street vendors but I decided to make mine today just to share with you my friends the process of making it, I hope you enjoy it.
Ingredients
Beans
Vegetable oil
Pepper
Onion
Salt
First you wash the beans to remove the backs (peels) in this process you add a little water in order to soften the beans then you scrub with both hands to remove the peels,
Ok you might be thinking that it will be difficult to remove the peels after scrubing but, not to worry we have an easy way to do this, you simply add enough water and stire with your hands and sieve, you have to do this until most of it is removed then you sieve out all the water and pick the remaining peels with hand, this will be easy since most of the peels are gone.
After this you pour the beans in a bowl add your pepper, onion, little water and blend to make a paste, little water is required in order to have a thick paste because too much water will result to a flat akara and you don't want that.
After blending you whisk the paste with a wooden spoon till it becomes lighter you can also do this with a mixer if you have one, but I'm using wooden spoon because I don't have a mixer. Sorry I didn't capture the whisking process.
after whisking you add salt to taste and stair.
Now place a frying pan on medium heat add vegetable oil, let it heat for some minutes then scoop the paste into the hot oil and cook on low heat on each side till the both side turn golden brown. Yes this is it, quite easy right?
I had the akara with pap (akamu), you can also eat akara with a bread that also taste very good.
Now friends we have come to the end of the process and I hope you all enjoyed it and thanks for reading through.
