The purpose of putting brushes on escalotors.

Escalator ride is fun and make our life so simple and easy. The automatic moving machine does help us to climb on top instead of using stairs. Now a days moat of building and public places have these maxhine installed. Be it metro station, shopping malls, rsilway station or a getting to the override to cross the road. They are helping us by not letting our legs tired.

One thing that most of us does on escalotor is to use the brushes on the sideways to clean our shoes. I did it, and even I saw my Dad doing it and other people doing the same. They think that those brushes are for cleaning the shoes. However there is a separate logic behind installing them on escalator. There is no way such a heavy machinery required such little things for public convenience.

These brushes are called the safety brushes, and made up of Nylon. The bristles are also called skirt deflectors.
You will find them in every Escalotors. If you noticed they were installed right at the bottom part of the Escalator. They were installed for a safety reason. This is done to keep things like clothing, shoes and shoelaces or other stuffs from getting caught between the moving stairs and the railing.

We have heard of many escalotor mishaps. One of the reasons for such mishaps is people getting their clothes and bags stuck in them when they stand too close to the sides. So these Brushes also avoid ssuch mishaps andl also act as psychological deterrent. Whenever a person feel something rubbing against their leg they may move away from sideways.

This is very interesting reason, and many of us use these brushes for cleaning purposes. Now, knowing the true reason behind, I hope now we think twice before using them for own purpose.
