Roots are the building block of a tree, so does the inherent quality of a humans - Sanskrit teaching

Parenting plays an important role in the growth of a child. I always appreciate the role of my parents, who always stand by me and help me understand the different situation. It is good that I will carry forward the same qualities as they have.

I believe, a person always carry the character and inherent quality that they get from their parent. It is very hard to make them divert from what they were taught. I find a sanskrit shloka, which is nicely complimented the same.

न दुर्जनः साधुदशामुपैति बहुप्रकारैरपि शिक्ष्यमाणः|

आमूलसिक्तः पयसा घृतेन न निम्बवृक्षो मधुरत्वमेति||

Na durjanah saadhudashaamupaiti bahuprairapi shikshyamaanah,
Aamoolasiktah payasaa ghrutena na nimbavruksho madhuratvameti.

20230424_155906.jpg

Na = not.
Durjanah = a wicked person.
Saadhudashaamupaiti = Saadhu + dashaam + upaiti.
Saadhu dasham = nobleness.
Upaiti = acquires.
Bahuprairapi = Bahuprakaaraih + api. Bahuprakaareaih = various means. Api = even.
Shikshyamaanah = taught.
Aamoola = right from the root.
Siktah = watered.
Payasaa = with milk
Ghrutena = with ghee.
Nimba = Neem.
Vruksho = tree.
Madhuratvameti = Madhuratvam + eti.
Madhuratvam = sweeetness.
Eti = acquires.

In these lines, the schloar by giving the example of a neem tree whated to convey that "Just like a Neem tree, which,even if watered at its root with milk and ghee does not acquire sweetness of it own. It alwsys taste bitter, in the same manner a wicked person also can not be transformed into a noble person, no matter how
much different methods are adopted to educate him."

A wicked person is compared with a Neem tree to emphasize the fact that inherent qualities and shortcomings in any thing
can not be changed even by adopting various means. Trully been said as the natural things alwsys remain original than a made up things.

Learning is Passion!!

I agree with you @queenart. There is a wise that says train up a child in the way he should go, even when he grows up he will not leave it. But sadly though some are ignoring and leaving the way there parents tried so hard to instill in them.
