It is not easy to be like other - Sanskrit Teaching
We see people people always seeking good advice for their life. But how many of them utilize or adapt or apply the advices in their life depends upon their qualities. Even many people try to accumulate knowledges and qualities by staying close to knowlgeable person. But still.unable to extract the best of them Those people who can understands the deep meaning and put them for use will definatelly benefitted. Grasping knowledge depends upon certain qualities as well.
Here are the few lines from ancient sanskrit texts, which highlights same situation :
अन्तःसारविहीनानामुपदेशो न जायते|
मलयाचलसंसर्गान्न वेणुश्चन्दनायते||
Antahsaara-viheenaanaam-upadesho na jaayate.
Malayaachalasmsargaanna venushchandanaayate.
Antahsaara + viheenaanaam + upadesho. Antahsaara = inner strength, inherent qualities.
Viheenaanaam = without.
Upadesho = guidance, advice.
Na = not.
Jaayate = produce any fruitful results. Malayaachala + sansargaat + na.
Malayaachala = Malaya mountain, known for its Sandalwood trees.
Sansargaat = in the company of.
Na = not.
Venuh + chandanaayate,
Venuh = bamboo, cane.
Chandanaayate = becomes like Sandalwood tree.
The above lines states that Giving advice or guidance to persons devoid of inherent qualities does not produce any fruitful results. See, the bamboo grown in Malaya mountain along with Sandalwood trees do not become fragrant like the sandal- wood trees.
Malaya mountain range in South India is famous for the sandalwood trees grown there. Bamboo also grows there, but even being close to the sandalwood trees it has no fragrance because it does not have any inner quality like the sandalwood tree. Likewise, persons without
any inner qualities can not benefit by the guidance or the company of learned persons.
