Mangrove Forest Walk in a Cloudy Afternoon
How excited was I when I got back walking to the mangrove forest in Perancak Village. It's been a while since I felt this excitement. Even though the sky was cloudy, I set myself for another little adventure.
the start of mangrove forest walk.
the bridge upon us.
My son and I went underneath the bridge outside my village (the one we visited a lot). It was a part we never explored before just by the river where the bridge was. It's an area of the forest by the side of the river.
There was a foot path we found on our walk. This made our walk much easier. It seemed that this foot path was made for people who went fishing to get to different side of the river.
the foot path.
We crossed a small bridge (if you can call it a bridge, because for me it was just a broken board that gap a little stream ahead of us). This lead us further into the forest.
the bridge made of broken board.
There were numerous mangrove trees growing in between us. There were also little plants and bushes along our way. To our left, there were more mangrove trees since that would go deeper into the forest. I did not take this route because I was not so familiar or experienced in exploring new forest area. We just kept walking on the designated foot path.
turned right to the side of the river.
dense mangrove forest.
the river was on our right.
To our right, the trees were not so dense, and I could see the river behind those trees. On an occasion, I could a boat cruising on the river. I also one or two people fishing on the river bank.
As we walked on the foot path, we realize that it got darker, because the leaves of the mangrove trees prevent the sun light to reach to us. However, we then saw, ahead of us, the end of the foot path. It seemed that the place was more bright. It look like there were no trees in that place.
an opening at the end of the foot path?
We walked again toward that bright area, and boy, there were quite a number of people there. There was even a family with a little boy sitting by the side of the river. These are the people who came to this place for fishing with their family even with girl friend. Wow, what an enlightment 🤣
"Did you catch any fish?" I asked one person there. He showed me the fish he put on a net container. They were little fish. But he was very happy. The rest of them just waiting for the fish to eat the baits on their fishing rod.
Well, that's where the furthest I could go for that day. The little footpath ended in a bigger stream that what we found earlier. And there was no board that bridge our way to the other side.
no bridge, we could not go further.
