Exploring The Sacred Beach of Yeh Kuning

Suddenly, I found myself standing on black sand by the sea shore of Yeh Kuning....!

Err, not really. I already planned my visit to this beach before. I wanted to visit this place, because, I only had come here once. And that's not for traveling or leisure, but for religious festival/ praying earlier this year.

I came this beach in the morning some days ago (mid of June 2022). I preferred to go in the morning because morning is good for taking photos. And things looks more peaceful and calm at the beginning of the day.

Unlike my last visit during the festival, this beach was quiet and calm. I saw a few people walking on the beach, some dogs which barked at me when I got close to them, and a person who walked his horse.

This beach would be packed with people at least once a year in around March or April. It's not for holiday, but for the "Melasti Ceremony.", a Balinese Hindu Festival. I was at this beach for the ceremony as well.

Beach is quite important part of Balinese culture. Many of the religious ceremony are conducted in the beach. Beach is believed to be where everything is recycled or cleansed. I could not imagine how a Balinese live without beach especially with so many rituals in the beach.

So, enough for the side lecture. I continued my walk along the sea shore to take more photos. I remember that there was a foot ball field near the beach where everybody parked their motor bikes and cars before going to the beach for the ceremony. I walked to find the football field.

During my walk, I stopped few times to take lots of photos. Here are some more photos I took during my adventure in Yeh Kuning beach.

yehku-10.jpgThe temple was closed, and only opened during festival.

yehku-11.jpg Fishermen boats near the temple.

yehku-17.jpgBeing by the sea, make many of the locals work as fishermen.

yehku-18.jpg I guess the fishermen were resting this time of the day. They would start working again when the evening comes.

yehku-12.jpgI really love seeing the reflection of the clouds and sky on the wet sand.

yehku-13.jpgAn opening to go to main road.

What foot prints were these?

yehku-19.jpg the foot ball field was the parking place during religious festival.

yehku-25.jpg the last photo from near the football field before I left for home.

Well, I had a good time taking photos and exploring Yeh Kuning beach, where Melasti ceremony, the religious ritual, was conducted every year. A beach believed to be sacred by the local.

@putu300 you're not a new user, you've been here since January 2018, just like me, so you know we have a lot of communities on hive, dedicated to travel and photography, like Pinmapple and Photography Lovers for example. OCD is not suitable for this type of content, as you can see in the rules.

Next time please use the appropriate communities, based on the topic of your post. Here's the list of communities on Hive, but you already know that.
