A Spiritual Trip in West Bali

We have our own holy days in Bali, and there are a lot of them. Our calendar is a lunar calendar which last for 210 days instead of 365 days. So, our calendar change into new "year" 155 days before the international calendar. That's why we have more frequent celebration or festival.
This month we have a Kuningan day where the Balinese Hindu go the family or public temples to pray to the God and ancestors. As for me, my family and I went to the several temples in West Bali for a spiritual journey. This was a day before the Kuningan day where there were less people in the temple.
I have some photos of my visit/prayer in temples that I would like to share here. There were four temples we went on this journey. The temples are called:

  • Kertha Kawat
  • Melanting
  • Pulaki
  • Sakti Temple

All the temples have different characteristics. What stands out for me for its decoration is the Melanting. It has colorful decoration on its gate and the shrines inside the temple yard.

The Pulaki temple is located on a small hill but it is located by the sea. It is close the forest area where there are a lot of monkeys (macaque) that will snatch people belongings. So, visitors are advised to be cautious.

The Sakti temple has a spring which is believed by the locals as holy water. On auspicious day usually this temple is full of people coming to pray and to do a cleansing ritual.

That was my spiritual trip. It was great day.
