THE LIFE OF A TYPICAL NIGERIA STUDENT; The Frustrations during exams.
I have few friends who are studious right from my first year in the university so it was easier to get motivated to start preparing for exams 3 weeks before. Two out of these friends stay in the same hostel with me and it has always been blessings upon blessings.
The examination started on the 3rd of July but we 300 level students were given extra one week to prepare for our examinations and that's the first time I'll ever experience such in this University that has been so strict with their examinations, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
My preparations for this exam was quite stressful because of the effect of the present economy of the country.
THE FRUSTRATIONS
The School Portal
We normally print a paper from the school portal called "examination pass". It is used as access into the examination hall as it has the names of the courses to be written, venues, date and batch numbers on it. My phone got spoilt 5 days before I started my exam so it was hard to get my exam pass.
I had to login my information on the school portal using my friend's phone but, the annoying thing is the school portal isn't strong enough to allow all the student use it at the same time. So we took turns daily trying to get our exam pass.
I wrote my first exam without the exam pass which was impossible. I was wise enough to go with a recipt of my school fee as proof that I'm qualified to write the examination (even though I had the school I.D card hung on my neck).
Transportation to school
Transportation to the school during exam weeks have always been stressful and annoying. The number of vehicles available for transport in and around the school is just too small when compared to the number of students.
My school has a large number of students and every exam period most students try to get to the school car park 30-40 minutes before the exam time. And there are always funny scenarios happening while trying to get a taxi.
The long queue
There are always unnecessary delays during exams, especially when the exam is a Computer Based one. The queue is always under a scorching hot sun while students who are late will be trying to force their way into the queue. Sometimes, the queue last for 30mins, 40mins, even an hour+.
The Strict Invigilators.
These set of people overdo their jobs. They can send a student back home just because of a rough hair, rough clothes, putting on slippers instead of shoes, long nails, no stamp on the exam pass, and lots more.
All these frustrations and stress ends immediately I'm done with my examinations this week!!😊😊.
Have you experienced any of these in your school?
