THE JOY THAT COMES FROM HELPING PEOPLE

While still in the vibe and celebration of Christmas, staying around my family seems weird at first and it was because I didn't have my own space like I use to have in school. And, getting to talk with neighbours around was an extra work for me. But I later got used to everything about home after many days.

I had some money in my account ( I withdrew part of my earnings here ) but since I had no plan to go out or shop during christmas, I left the money to rest till next year. Well, the money did not rest for long because I later used most of it to help when I got the oppurtunity to.

The first person I helped was a lady, she wanted to buy recharge card from my sister and this person has been a neighbour since I was little. So, I felt the recharge card she wanted to buy was too small to call friends and family to wish them Merry Christmas . I told her to get x2 the amount she wanted and I would pay for it, she had to ask me if I serious😅 and I said yes. She showed appreciation and I felt this joy within me, I was happy that I could help.

I also helped some other few people during this week, my sister runs a POS business and has two branches: I have been helping her to stay in the one of the branch since I come for holiday. There is an unreasonable scarcity of cash in Nigeria at the moment which leaves people no other choice than to come get cash from POS vendors since the limit of withdrawal is around 5,000 naira per day.

Now we get money with money, I mean we literally buy money with money, crazy right.... So, sometimes reduce the amount I charge per transactions for some people and I pay that discount with my own money. Though, in business, it might look like I was trying to get them to patronize me another time, but that's not it. I just feel prompted to do it and I have no regret doing that; I even like the joy that comes from doing good to/for others.

It felt easier to help with the money I had because I was lucky, I could have spent half of the money. Two days after I traveled home, I went to the barber's shop to cut my hair that I had kept for about 3 weeks but I did not find the barber in the shop; the shop was opened no one was inside. I left and came back in the evening and the owner was not in the shop, so, I called a friend who is a regualar customer of this barber to ask for his number. Instead, my friend, David, came over to the barber's shop and took me to another barber shop.

We got to this shop, it was a newly opened, classy and looking shiny. I sat and the chair was so comfortable and giving!. I saw how good the barbers were by just sitting behind and watching as they cut and carved out good haircut on several heads. I sat down to get my haircut, it took about an hour; I got tired of sitting but I was loving how the barber was carving out a very nice shape.
(there were 4 barbers in the shop).

My friend paid for me before I was done with my hair. Funny thing is that the barber's price was quite expensive than the previous place I went to.

So, I had enough money and could help others too like my friend did for me.

If I would think about any good deed to do for someone, it would be to be so financially stable. This will be one of my greatest help to my family as I will no longer be asking for money, rather I will be the giving more to them: even to my friends and being so blessed will make it easier for me to help more people anytime anyday.
