A restaurant which is known for bad reviews and complaints - I went there

I remember in 2020, we were forced to stay at home because of lockdown and we couldn't even go anywhere, we were allowed only a few places like parks. Even the sports hall, the playground was closed as well including all the restaurants. Only takeaway and home delivery were opened in a few restaurants. It's not like I don't like home cook meals, but I would love to have a nice meal in a nice restaurant too. So, in 2021 when everything started getting normal, the first thing was in my mind was to have nice food in a nice restaurant.

Here, in restaurants we didn't have so many rules, we could go there easily with or without masks. But recently because of a rule, many people are not allowed in restaurants. Nowadays, when you enter a restaurant, you have to show your covid certificate. Not all restaurants are following this rule but many are doing. I have covid vaccinated paper so it's not really hard to enter in any restaurant.

I have been thinking a lot about having a good meal, even in the last 10 days, I didn't even buy any food from the outside. I thought about taking a takeaway but this is not what I want. I just want to spend a good time in the middle of people by having good food.

A few days ago I have written a post describing the beautiful interior of Georgia Restaurant and I wrote that I will definitely write about their food too. If you haven't read my post yet, you can check here.

Georgia is a nice restaurant that offers traditional Georgian food for their customer. They follow traditional recipes of Georgian cuisine and offer special khachapuri from wood-burning ovens to the customers. Though khachapuri is available in Kharkiv in most of the street food shops, the only difference is the traditional style wood-burning oven.

The restaurant Georgia is located in the city center, one can easily go there by metro or bus. The astonishing interior can easily blow up someone's mind and obviously, expectation rises high. When you go to such kinds of restaurants, you usually expect nice service from the waiters and staff.

When we entered the restaurant, one of the staff welcomed us, check our certificate and showed us our table. I must say the chairs and couches were very comfortable. I prefer comfortable sitting arrangements but in some restaurants, the furniture is so bad and hard to sit on them.

The restaurant was almost empty, we were there after the lunch hour besides, their customers often come here for dinner, not for lunch except the weekend.

After 15 minutes, a waiter came to us and gave us the menu. I asked for an English menu because I often don't understand the normal menu which is usually written in Russian. They have many foreign customers so they keep an English menu, for the people like us.

The food looked delicious on the menu, especially the kebab and stewed beef named Ostri. I often avoid pork dishes and trust me, I spend my time reading and analyzing the menu always.

The cover of the menu caught my eyes, it seemed like a part of Georgia was in front of me. It was beautiful to look at.

Anyway, after spending 15 minutes browsing the whole menu, we have ordered Ostri (beef stewed), Kebab ( mutton Rib), and dumplings. People come here for khachapuri but I avoided that because I didn't like it much before.

We also decided to order some drinks, normally we take either soft drinks like cola, sprite, or water but this time we wanted to have nice cocktails but non-alcoholic. So we ordered a Lychee drink with rose petals and an orange,pineapple-lime drink. Drinks are from Brilliant Bar which is part of the Georgia restaurant but separate menu and bill.

The drinks looked refreshing and the decoration was remarkable. They were served with dry orange slices, mints, and some dry rose petals. Lychee- rose combo was unique and refreshing too especially during summer.

Everything looked perfect so far and no complaints about the drinks. Served very quickly and was so refreshing.

Main menu time had come so quickly and the waiter served the dishes one by one. But to me, the hot beef stew looked appealing than the other dishes.

The beef stew is basically beef in tomato sauce with onions and Georgian spices. It is like beef curry (Indian) but the difference is spices. Georgian spices elevated the stew/curry to a new level and easily understandable that the dish is made of following the old traditional Georgian recipe.

We took beef dumplings, there were soft and hot and the inside was juicy with full of flavored beef. So, far no complaints because the stew and dumplings were quite nice and delicious...

Here comes the one-piece mutton rib served with Georgian spicy sauce and our most expensive dish in the meal. It was supposed to be the king and a show stopper of our meal but it was not. I didn't like the presentation at all. The rib was served with some onion slices and pomegranate seeds. Somehow the dipping sauce was overflowed and the bread/roti was not so good. It was cold and the rib was kinda overcooked according to me.

I don't have any complaint about the flavor because it was there but somehow it was not tempting and the meat was dry a little bit. Obviously, ribs are not like steaks but still, the juiciness was not there. The portion was so less or I would say compromised and somehow the presentation made the dish disaster.

I am very choosy and precise when it comes to food presentation, I am not a food critic but presentation matters to me besides I was paying for an expensive dish so my expectation was high.

Trust me after coming here, I was checking their reviews and what I found out was only complaints about their food nothing else. Yes, their drinks and the restaurant atmosphere deserve 10/10 but they should work on their menu or change their chef, especially when you are taking a nice number of service charges from the customers. Many people complaints about the Khachapuri but I can't say anything as I haven't tested it.

They have a few dishes that are really good but they should work on their presentation as well. Flavors were there but a lot of things were missing. When you pay well for your meal, you deserve good food and good service right?
