Prayer is not something that is simply done. The Lord Jesus has a discipline on how prayer should be done, how we should knee down and so many others.

Prayer has Content is not a narrative of story telling. Prayer is making request to God.
Philippians 4:6- we learnt from this scripture that Prayer is a request or petition to God, or whatever we need to ask from God.
When Judas became a traitor and the Apostles wanted to replace him with someone else from the other disciples they had to pray to God.
Acts 1: 24-25 In this scripture I learnt that the 11 Apostles prayed to God to give them a replacement for Judas. They prayed and asked God to show them the person that would replace Judas.
Prayer is making request to God, we don't need to recite litany while praying all we need is to tell the Lord all that we need at that time.

The doctrine of Christ is that each time we pray we should believe that whatever we prayed about has been granted by God and we would receive it.
Mark 11:24 We learnt here that whenever we pray we should believe and know that God has answered us.

Praying Before Meal

I equally learnt that it is God's commandment that we always pray before eating our meals.
Mark 15:36 In this scripture we saw how Jesus prayed before eating. Jesus always teaches us by examples. Everything He is expecting from us are the things He did while on Earth.
1Timothy 4:4-5 we learnt from this scripture that every creature of God is good whether it is beef, chicken or lamb. We are expected to receive them with Thanksgiving. Praying before eating helps our food to be sanctified.

God will not forsake those who believe and pray to Him.

When Should We Pray

So many Christians only pray when they are faced with diverse challenges, difficulties and hardship, but that is not the doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ. I learnt that our responsibility as Christians is to always pray to God, both in good times and in bad times. We should not be like so people who pray only once a month or once a year.
Luke 18:7 From this scripture we learnt that Prayer should be said day and night
1 Thessalonians 5:17 I learnt that prayer should be said without ceasing.
2 Timothy 1:3 From this scripture I learnt that praying without ceasing means praying night and day.
I learnt that praying to God day and night would do a great deal in my life. I also learnt that my prayers should be simple with few words.

How can we be sure that our prayers would be heard

Most times Christians pray without assurance in their hearts, most of us doesn't know the ingredients to an answered prayers. Today I learnt that God looks at the heart, if the heart of the person praying to God is not pure God will not hear His prayers. The man who calls upon God must do it with a pure heart because the eyes of the Lord is over the righteous and His ear is open to their prayers.
If I come to God with an impure Heart, wicked heart He won't hear my prayers.

A pure heart

I equally learnt what God meant by a pure heart, because it the criteria for receiving answer from God. I learnt what God looks at is our hearts and not our mouth, and so when we come to the place of prayer with a heart filled with malice, grudge, fornication, lies and hatred that God would not give answers to our prayers

I learnt that a pure heart is heart that is void of offence towards God and man
This is the major thing that hinders the Christian from receiving answers from God.
We must endeavor to rid out of our hearts pride, murder, evil thought and fornication if we truly want God to answer our prayers.
1 Peter 3:7- We learnt from this scripture that husband should dwell with their wife with knowledge, and that they should bestow honor to their wife as the weaker vessel in order for their prayers not to be hindered.
If husband and wife live in unfaithfulness it makes their prayers hindered.

How to purify my Heart

I equally learnt today that there's a great connection between our hearts and our mouth. What proceeds out of our mouth are basically the content of our hearts. For us to receive answers from God each time we pray we must make it our responsibility to cleans our hearts.
I learnt that the word of God is the effective tool we can use to purify our hearts. The word of God is like a soap that washes away the filth in our hearts. It is in obeying the truth of God's word that our hearts can be purified

We were seriously encouraged to depart from iniquity like gambling, fornication and lying because these things has a way of affecting our prayers. I equally learnt that there's a need for us to control our tongue as God's children. If our hearts is bad and evil then what will come out of our mouth would be evil because the abundance in the heart comes out of the mouth.

When we want to pray we are encouraged to cleanse our hearts and our tongue for our prayers to be heard; until our tongue agrees with our hearts our prayers would not be heard by God

We are encouraged to always keep to our promises as believers, let our yes be yes and let our no be no, because the way we relate with people have a way it affect our prayers.

Conclusion

I equally learnt that our entire being should be in conformity with the will of God so that our prayers can be heard.
I equally learnt that we should not include God in our Jokes.
Exodus 29:7 teaches us not to use the name of God in vain.
