No sleep for me

You know how we thank God for when things are going great in our lives and we blame the devil when things ain't exactly going great, well I'm about to do one of those, I'm about to blame the devil for everything.

First of all, it's like really hot in Nigeria right now. I know people always say that Africa is hot blah blah blah, this year has been different though. The heat this year has been off the chart, almost like someone forgot to close the gate of hell after they went in so all of that heat is just redirected here.

Praying for rain also seems like a futile thing to do as it has only rained once here and it wasn't even a heavy downpour, so for us to survive this heat, we all have to depend on one thing which is something that helps blow cool air, in this case either an air conditioner or a fan. In my case it was a standing fan because I honestly can't have an air conditioner in an hostel but anyways, in a time like this, a man's fan is his greatest possession, one could even say his best friend.

And that was why I had gone ahead to get some petrol for my generator tonight, because the plan had been to leave the generator on throughout the night for me to get a sound sleep. But obviously, the devil had a different plan for me because the moment I turned on the generator and turned on my fan, it stopped working.

I honestly had no idea what went wrong but something did and I confirmed that after applying the ultimate skill in which everyone knows how to do very well, which is when an electronic device suddenly stops working, you should always try to turn it off and turn it back on. After I did that and it still wasn't working, I knew that the worse had happened, my enemies had won.

Just a couple of days back I was lamenting because I had no money to repair the charging port of my Bluetooth speaker that got damaged and now this? I can live without a Bluetooth speaker but asking me to live without a working fan is you asking for the impossible, most especially in this heat. And that is why I've thought real hard about the situation and came to the conclusion that I have two options, it's either I fix the fan as soon as possible, or I just sleep in anyone's room who has a working fan.

Any which way, I'm not sleeping a wink if I don't feel some cool breeze caressing my skin tonight.
