Forgive or No

Earlier today I was on tiktok just passing away time when I saw this music video by a Nigerian artist that kinda had a storyline to it. In this video, the dude who was about to get married to his girl caught her cheating on him with another guy. She had immediately apologised and was about to walk out when the guy (her soon-to-be husband) holds her hand and draws her closer to him.

The song is basically about forgiveness and how he's willing to love her if she chooses to love him too regardless of her imperfections. To me, it was a very nice song with a dumb video because the storytelling was lame to me, but then it got me thinking about relationships and getting cheated on.

You see, I have friends who have a zero policy on cheating, the moment they catch their girl cheating on them, they're done with that relationship. And then I also know some people who I've asked the same question and their response wasn't exactly a direct one.

According to those people, everything happens for a reason and they would actually try to know why their partner cheated on them first before taking any decision. Mind you, all of these people that I've asked are guys, while the few ladies I've asked, about 80% of them all said that their next course of action would all depend on how much they love that person.

Personally, I understand wanting to forgive because you still love that person, but you see, I had gone to read the comment section of that video and most of the comments there said that they know the guy never really forgave her and was only just waiting for the perfect time to have his revenge, which also kinda made sense.

Because if you ask me, I honestly don't think that relationship can ever remain the same again, unless the person cheated on truly decides to totally forget about everything that happened, which is almost impossible.

So in as much as I do believe that you can forgive a cheating partner, I just know that at the end of the day, something is going to have to pay the price for that particular action. It's either the trust of your relationship never remains the same or something else happens.

And this mostly happens when it's the guy who cheated, because you ladies never forget and will always bring it up every chance you get.

Anyways, would you take back a cheating partner?

If they were married, I would recommend giving another chance to the relationship but they were not married and I think it's better not to forgive because the thing that happened will exist in their life all the time as nobody can change the past. It will act like a poison for their relationship in the future and it can be triggered for various reasons and I think it will be bad for both of them. It's better not to bind in the same relation again.
Again if there were exist true love, then it's not actually because if true love existed, then she would not dare to cheat. I hope I make you understand my viewpoint.

But shouldn't it be the same thing regardless of if they're married or not?

Why does being married save you from the consequences of cheating?

For sure cheating pays the price even if you regret the other person can carry this forever… and cheating has many perspectives doesn’t need to be with carnal conclusions… well it is a taboo for sure usually to talk about

So you think the best thing to do is end the relationship seeing how you will always remember them cheating?

It depends of how you keep suffering with that… forgiving can take time but there are cases that even time cant heal
