Don't Try to Fix what isn't Broken
I've never really been a fan of sports like boxing or the ufc since forever. The idea of hitting someone that hard until their legs become wobbly and they pass out or not be able to stand right back up for some minutes has never really been entertaining to me.
That is why whenever I hear of a popular fight that's about to happen, probably one that involves someone from my country, I wait until the match is over and then go watch some quick highlights of the match because I prefer to watch a two minutes clip than the entire thing. Even when I do that, I most times skip to the very end just to see who won and how they did it.
Funny enough, with all of that said, one would think that I would completely be in support of the government regulating these kinds of sports, in order to make it less harmful and a lot safer, but no, I totally disagree with that.
You see, the total idea of sports like boxing and ufc is to hurt someone. Unlike what we see today where boxers are friends outside the ring and only do these stuff for the money, back in the day it used to be a lot different.
Most of those boxers hated themselves for real and would always take that hatred to the ring with them.. It was things like that that excited the fans and made it a lot real than some of the boxing matches we have today. That anger and hatred was everything in a boxing match back in the day during the time of Muhammed Ali and the rest.
Although I wouldn't be completely surprised if certain rules get put in place to ensure that no one loses their life when fighting, but that should be in boxing and not in a sports like football.
The other day I was on the internet when I saw a video of these guys playing football but they weren't running. I've forgotten what the name of the sport was but it basically had the same rules as football, the only difference was that you couldn't run. So once you had the ball in your possession, all you could do to get to your opponent's goal post was to walk really fast with the ball.
It was a silly thing to watch and it almost got me angry because they were ruining a perfect sport. The same way I couldn't tolerate those guys not running with the ball, is the same way I can't tolerate a football game without some really nice tackles, you know, the ones Sergio Ramos and Pepe are good at (if you watch football you'd understand these references).
So yeah, even if I can tolerate regularizing the damages being done in boxing (I'm not a fan of it anyway), the last thing I will tolerate is watching them go ruin football, as that is a sport very close to my heart and anyone who messes with it, messes with me.
Thank you.
This is my entry to the Hive Learners weekly contest.
Hehe. I feel boxing matches we see in tv are scripted one. I don't like the game but I feel football doesn't need any regulations right now as it seems ok in my eyes.
Most boxing matches are definitely scripted... Just like the recent match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.. That was definitely scripted.
