Another day, another lesson

There have been certain times in the past where I've gotten upset with people, simply because I had asked them for something, and after they told me they didn't have that stuff, I see them using that same stuff some place else.

Now I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has been in this situation in the past, and although sometimes, this people say no simply because they just don't want you to have that stuff, but also, as I've learnt today, sometimes they say no because your aim and theirs just doesn't align.... Let me explain.

Earlier today, I had gone downstairs to the room of a female friend and two of my friends had joined me there later. One conversation led to another and we suddenly found ourselves talking about food and what we were going to eat that morning.

Luckily for us, the lady whose room we were in, told us she had some uncooked rice and was willing to give us as much as we needed for breakfast, but only on one condition, and that condition was that we the guys would have to provide money to buy ingredients to make stew..she also volunteered to help us cook it too.

So it was a very good deal but then we started to talk about how much we had to bring that would be enough for the stew and we had started at one thousand naira each, an amount I felt was kinda small, so I had told them.. But immediately I said that, they both started to talk about how they didn't have any money on them, and how broke they were and all that..

Honestly, what they said made sense and we had eventually agreed on bringing the one thousand naira each, but just as we were about to bring out the money, another lady down the hallway had said something about wanting to make shawarma but she didn't have enough money on her.

Being big fans of shawarma, we all rushed out the room to talk to her and that was when we realized she needed about ten thousand naira to buy the stuff she didn't have. They were five of us standing with her at the time and if we were to share the expenses equally between ourselves, we were to pay about two thousand naira each.

To my surprise, the two guys who had told me minutes ago that the only money they had on them was a thousand naira each, had both brought out two thousand naira each and gave it to the lady. I saw this but said nothing because I felt there was no point saying anything, because at the end of the day, it is their money and they could do whatever it is they wanted with it.

We ended up not paying for the rice but paid for the shawarma which turned out to be trash because she wasn't as good as she said she was when it came to making it...So basically we lost the rice and were left with burnt tasteless shawarmas.

At the end of the day, I realized that most times, people wouldn't want to help or do things your way if it's not in their best interest..

Unfortunately, people refuse help not because they don't have the money, but because the thing you asked for is not in their plans or they don't see it as worth giving at that moment.

That happens most times and sometimes it's not entirely a bad thing.. They just had different plans for their money.

I am just imagining the situation and to be honest I don't like two faced person. I think they told lie for no reason. If you don't like something, you can refuse. What the meaning of telling lie.

This is why I don't want to think too deep about the situation because I could end up getting upset.. I just tell myself that it is their money and they have the right to do whatever it is they want with it.
