When I think of cats I get so many great ideas in my head, because they are such beautiful, elegant, intelligent and playful animals that it is inevitable not to love them. That's why I'm here again bringing you my second entry for the #diycatcontest.

In this opportunity I show you how to make a fake collar style collar for my cat Ruh, she has a design in her fur that gives the illusion that she is wearing a white shirt and black jacket, so I decided to make this fake collar for her to show even more that formal effect.
Personally I don't like to put a collar on my cat, since on 2 occasions she got caught on a branch, so if your kitty also spends a lot of time in nature I recommend you to leave her without a collar.
But on the other hand, how pretty she looks with her collar for special occasions, so I got to work.

• Tela blanca ( yo utilicé una tela de algodón)
• Hilo blanco y aguja
• Un botón de tu gusto
• Pinturas , blanca, magenta, amarilla y verde.
• Pincel delgado.

• White fabric (I used a cotton fabric)
• White thread and needle
• A button of your choice
• Paints, white, magenta, yellow and green.
• Thin brush.

To start I made my pattern, I don't know anything about pattern making so I took the measurement of my cat's neck, it was about 27 cm approximately and then I calculated the size of the lapels, all this measuring the pattern every 5 minutes to my cat.
Then I marked the pattern on the fabric and folded it so that it would be both sides at once and sewed the shape of what would become the flaps and the collar, then cut the shapes, this way it is easier for me to hold the fabric to sew it.

In the neck band, leave an opening along the length to insert the two flaps so that they are well sewn with the seam facing inwards.

After sewing all the parts I proceeded to make a buttonhole with white thread to fasten, then I put the button in place, in my case I did not like how the shirt button looked so I put a little white bead.

To finish off my cute little collar, I painted lots of little flowers and leaves to give the fabric a patterned look and make it look very cute.

This is how this cute faux collar turned out for my cat Ruh, apparently she liked it a lot because she posed so pretty for the pictures.
