Wednesdaywalk. Next to the iguanas
I sat down to enjoy the placid breeze when I received an unexpected visit from an iguana. It is not an animal of my preference, besides, I am afraid of it, it seems to me a prehistoric species, the row of wide and elongated scales that extends from its head to its tail, as well as its long nails do not please me. In spite of this I dared to take pictures of them.
Iguanas are reptiles that live in trees, they are climbers. They are probably on the ground looking for food, leaves, flowers, herbs and some fruits or looking for water. Although they drink water infrequently, they do so either by dipping their heads in the water or by licking drops of water they find on the leaves of plants or other surfaces.
Quickly the iguana sensed my presence and hurriedly tries to retreat, I try to go after it, but I did not proceed because I thought that the park guards might call my attention.
It turns out that iguanas have extraordinary vision, so they are able to detect movement, shadows or bodies at a great distance. Because of this, they almost immediately notice your presence and seek to flee.
On the other side I see a couple of iguanas, frolicking around. As I get closer, they try to run away. Each one took a different direction, one of them I was able to catch up with.
Although iguanas are sedentary animals and have short legs, they move quickly on their belly. This is due to their special anatomy, slender and laterally compressed body, four limbs with well-developed toes and a long tail that is also used as a defense tool.
There are many species of iguanas. The one that accompanied me on this Wednesday walk was the green iguana species, which is the most abundant in Venezuela.
Time passed without realizing it and without feeling the suffocation, thanks to this particular and unexpected walk that I am pleased to share in #wednesdaywalk a great initiative promoted by @tattoodjay.
Thank you for reading!!

I'm guessing this also explains how an animal of that nature and weight is tree-climbing and aborial.
I've never seen an Iguana before. They're not easy to find around here, and I don't visit nature reserves that much to have seen them. Like you, they're not my favorite creatures either, but I think they're still a wonderful creation of nature.
I hope you eventually got the banners?

Greetings @depressedfuckup. In my country iguanas were very abundant. You could find them in squares, backyards, not necessarily in a nature reserve or protected area. But thanks to their ease of hunting and lack of controls, their population has decreased considerably.
I don't like iguanas because of their appearance and as you say, they are a wonderful creation of nature and indispensable for the balance of ecosystems. Thank you for your nice comment.
I'm afraid of iguanas too, and right at my grandmother's house there was a tree where there used to be a lot of them.
Sometimes I would look out the window and I felt like I was in Jurassic Park when the dinosaurs were already free because there were so many of them.
Mientras más grandes más miedo dan. Ciertamente parecen animales de la época jurásica. Pero cuando están pequeñitas son sutilmente agradables. Mucha gracias por leer y comentar 😊
good afternoon dear friend @pnessy how are you?
I am sorry that due to lack of electrical power your order was not available, it is good that you waited, otherwise you would have missed this beautiful visit. Beautiful photographs, I appreciate you sharing with us.
Greetings @jlufer. I am glad for your visit. It was worth the wait, because I was able to give myself a moment for contact with nature and photography. It helped me a lot to alleviate the discomfort I was feeling at that moment because of the order. I enjoyed the moment. Happy afternoon.
Iguanas are such unique animals arent they so cool to see them
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
They are unique and very important for maintaining the balance of ecosystems. Only when they are very small are they cool to see.

Iguana look scary but they are actually harmless..seen them when I was younger...
If they are harmless, that is why they are easy to hunt, decreasing their population, which is why they are a threatened species.
Some people eat them I guess 😅 there are countries where people eat exotic foods like iguanas..
