Yeah, originally I was trying to float spider plant babies in it, but they kept flopping over so the leaves would rot in the water and I gave up.
Then I left it not only because it was cute, but because if those red root floaters (the little green-reddish floating plants) spread, bettas need some space to come up and gulp air if they want (bettas can breathe air too). But also I was realizing that when I put in food, he didn't always notice and so it sat there for a while, and I didn't always know if he had eaten it or not because it would get lost in the plants. So I started putting it in the cookie cutter so he knows where to look and I can see if he's eaten it. :) He already knows that that is the food spot.
Ah, the cookie cutter hack! Now I can sound all knowledgable when I visit my brother-in-law 😂
😂 "Sheesh, BIL, don't you know about the cookie cutter hack?!"
Actually his name is Bill 😂
