RESOLUTION FEVER: WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS?
Every new year, it has become the habit of many people to make a list of decisions they hope to begin at the start of the new year. These decisions are commonly called 'New Year Resolutions'. Some write a list of bad habits they want to drop and good habits they want to imbibe. Others make decisions on goals and targets they hope to achieve and usually there is an inclusion of steps and deadlines with which they hope to achieve these resolutions.
However, I have noticed that people hardly go through with their resolutions beyond the first few months, weeks or even days of the new year. Before long, they find themselves repeating habits they had resolved to dropped. At times, the motivation to pursue set goals begins to wane and waver till it drops totally.
Having been a victim of this many times and observing many people with similar experiences, I eventually discovered a suitable 'cure' to the 'Resolution Fever' which is usually temporal. This fever begins from the onset. Many people make new year resolutions because they see others making theirs and they don't want to be left out because it seems like something 'cool' to do. But it is wrong to make resolutions simply because others are doing same. Your life is different from theirs.
Note that 'Resolution' is formed from the root word 'Resolve'. So you need to make resolutions after you have thought about your life, the things you could have done better and the things you did well. Then you proceed to make conscious decisions on the next steps to take. When you have a deep personal understanding of the purpose of your resolutions, the knowledge will keep your fire and 'vibe' aflame whenever you are discouraged.
In addition to this, don't wait until the start of a new year before making resolutions. Resolutions are not bad but they must be a conscious part of your life. If you discover something new about yourself in March, start working on it in March. Don't continue to dabble in mistakes till December just because you think it's not yet time to make a New Year Resolution. Make resolutions in November if you discover a better way to achieve your visions in November. You'll only be deceiving yourself if you choose to wait till January.
Above all, I wish you the best year ever. I pray you achieve your dreams and visions. I hope God grants you joy, good health and peace of mind. It's my year of GOLDEN BREAKTHROUGHS! I Love You.

It's true that some of us follow other people other people while making resolutions.
@philips-afolayan, I agree with you, it's shouldn't be so. We ought to resolve to make changes for ourselves not because of others
I hope that we will learn these resolution lessons well, and get out of the burden of "resolution fever"... Lol
Exactly...👍 It's an important lesson for us all. We should be more intentional about the decisions we make.
