Needlework: Making a beautiful Christmas dress for my princess

Compliment of the Seasons, my co-needleworkers.

How are you all doing? I hope you all are doing great, and if you care about me, I am doing pretty well.

I am very happy to share with you all my needlework posts today. I made this special dress for my beautiful daughter. My baby is growing every day, and I discovered that the baby dress I bought for her is no longer fitting her, so I was thinking about how to make her a dress so that she can wear to church on Christmas, and I checked through my box and found this remaining material I used to make myself a traditional marriage uniform.

I was thinking of which style to make for her that would really fit her, so I discovered this simple A-cut style.

How do you see this outfit? I hope it looks beautiful.

This took me just 2 hours to make this simple dress, and I really thank God the outcome looks pretty good on her. Now my baby has a new dress. I plan on making more dresses for her.

Material used

  • Ankara fabric
  • zip
  • valvet material
  • thread
  • sewing machine
  • scissors
  • chalk, etc.

Let's look at some steps I followed to achieve this dress.

Firstly, I fold the material into 2 in A-cut form, and then I check from the top downward to determine where my shoulder line will enter and then mark it out, and that is where all my measurements will start.

From that shoulder line, I measure the normal length of the dress, mark out the half length, and make sure that the measurements are from the shoulder. I also mark out the armhold after I divide the body into 2. I don't want it to be a shaping gown; I want it to be a free gown and I don't forget to put allowance before I cut it out.

Finally, I cut the front out, and here is the look of it.

After cutting it out, I placed the front at the back. I pit 2 inches for zipper allowance, measured the length of the neckline, and cut.

Finally, I cut the back out. Here is the outcome of it.

Here is both the back and front

The next thing for me to do is put the zip at the back with the help of my sewing machine.

I then join the shoulder together, i.e., back and front.
Shoulder.

I joined the body together and fixed it in the hand.

After that, I discover that the dress was looking too short, and I was thinking of something like a cape, a small flay, or gathers to make it long, so I decided to put a small gather on the ham of the dress. And at the end, the length of the dress increases, sometimes if the design we attach to the dress is a mistake.

Here is the final outcome of it.

I hope I'm trying to make something nice for my baby girl.
