Monday, I'm home now, I hear a strong wind and rain is forecast for much of northern #Venezuela, so it's possible that I will be without power soon, I must run to publish if I want to be able to leave the record of the day. Personally, my day is relatively calm, but when reviewing the ephemeris of #History, I find interesting things, among them, I chose one:

On September 19, 1991, a couple of German mountaineers, Helmut and Erika Simon, found a corpse that at first they thought was from recent times, on one of their walks in the mountains of Austria, but it was the mummified remains (naturally) of a man of about 46 years of age, who died around 3255 a. C. approximately.

The electricity flow is already jumping, it is better that I publish before I run out of way to do it, I wish you are well and that we can read each other again another time.

I edit and add, since the electricity still works

There are several things to say about Ötzi's discovery, things that reveal that his group had an advanced leather working technique and knew how to make very specialized clothing for the climate and specific hunting and survival activities. This is noticeable with the footwear, where different types of leather from various animals were combined to provide a waterproof, padded shoe with an internal lining of grass that kept the feet warm and that seem to have been attached to snowshoes that they would serve to move better in the snowy terrain.

In addition to that, this man had good tools with him and his arrows seem to have been better made than other groups in the same valley where he lived, that is what he suspects when comparing another arrowhead found in him. Well, it so happens that this hunter, very old for the time he lived, had a violent death, the blood on his knife, on his clothes and two arrowheads, indicates that he fought with at least 4 people before he died and that he managed to kill two of them, but received an arrow in the back that pierced to the lung, that arrowhead was trapped in his body when he tried to remove the arrow and that is what has allowed the comparison. As a hunter, and even more so an elderly hunter, one would expect him to have gone out with a hunting party, rather than going solo, but it seems they were attacked by another group of hunters and became separated from his people, in the end, he died on the mountain and his corpse was left with most of his equipment, we still don't know why the person who tried to remove the arrow from the back of his corpse did not take anything, perhaps it was because of religious beliefs, superstition, some sort of respect for another hunter, or just that something happened to interrupt him, and he had to flee the site before he could loot the carcass.

In any case, what we were left with was a body that the cold preserved to a very good degree, to the point that samples could be taken that allowed it to be tested for DNA, with which the population was later asked for collaboration and evaluated more than 3700 people, finding at least 16 direct descendants of this iceman in our time. I remember seeing a documentary on TV about this and that one of the interviewees was a high school teacher who had accompanied his students to visit the museum, took the opportunity to give #DNA samples for the project and after a while he took the surprise that he was a descendant. Then the man commented that now he visited the museum and used to stay watching the reconstruction of Ötzi, it was a bit strange for him to visit the mausoleum of an ancestor that was exhibited in this way, but it also gave him a certain pride of being a descendant of a hunter who, In such a difficult time, he was able to grow old, because there, being able to spend four decades of life was a monumental achievement.

I'm also glad that I was able to complete the post.

I was just talking earlier with my brother, about the high school teacher who is a descendant of Ötzi and that's what motivated me to write about the Iceman for today.

It makes me think about what it would be like to have an ancestor whose mausoleum is a museum exhibit... I feel like it would be weird, I admit I'd be a little proud to have such a famous ancestor, but it would still be a little weird to visit his remains.

I'm glad too, with the storm that passed through here, several areas near where I live lost power, and several towns in my state have already spent hours without power. In my house it fluctuated only a little, it made the surge protectors sound, but it didn't go away, considering the big picture, it can be said that today I am blessed with a lot of luck :)

How interesting the intertwining of history and the history of our lives is sometimes...

Certainly it can be interesting, sometimes it is said that the history of a country can be told from the perspective of ordinary people, and it usually gives an interesting result. I remember that in college they called that Ethnohistory.

Certainly, it is incredible what can be obtained with a criminalistic forensic analysis, I saw in the documentary that at the beginning they took X-rays, in which signs of degenerative diseases of the joints appeared, which could lead one to think that the tattoos that he had in those areas were some kind of treatment, either acupuncture-like treatment or things related to mysticism. From those initial analyzes it is that they also found the arrowhead, with its entrance hole in the back at the height of the scapula, when removing the arrowhead they compared it with those that were still preserved among their team and they were able to say with certainty that his had a better elaboration technique, so that point was not his and it was very unlikely that it belonged to one of his own family or community, considering the fact that there is archaeological evidence that the settlements were They treated as Clans, in which the exchange of families strengthened the bond and there were exchanges of techniques and manufactured products between people of the same Clan.

In short, not to make it long, the subsequent studies of magnetic resonance imaging, analysis of pollen present in his clothes, analysis of blood stains on his clothes and equipment, added to what was known about the archeology of the area, everything this allowed us to establish a good hypothesis of what happened to this hunter in his last hours of life.

Hunters are fast thinkers ready to create something beneficial.

I've certainly heard something like that :)

I suppose that in prehistoric times, when humanity had less technology, that trait of creating effective solutions quickly was a selection factor, those who survived had to be very creative.

I'm glad, too, it's one of those little joys to see that even though the electrical flow becomes unstable, it manages to stay alive and allows you to work.

By the way, the people of the remote past were really quite creative, one can be surprised to study their solutions to their daily problems and find that they were good enough to facilitate their survival, and it is thanks to that that their lineage reaches our days.
