Today's event is tragic, it is an event that changed #History and marked a generation. The attack against the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York (USA), on September 11 of 2001, was the largest, most colorful and effective #terrorist attack carried out in North American territory, it was an open war action and led to a nation furious and full of pain unleashed a War on Terrorism that marked the entire decade.

La efeméride de hoy es trágica, se trata de un evento que cambió la #Historia y marcó a una generación. El ataque contra las Torres Gemelas del World Trade Center en New York, el 11 de septiembre de 2001, fue el más grande, vistoso y efectivo ataque #terrorista ejecutado en territorio norteamericano, fue toda una ación de guerra abierta y llevó a que una nación furiosa y llena de dolor desatara una Guerra Contra el Terrorismo que marcó toda la década.

The GIFs that you see above, I chose for the publication because it resembles what I have as a memory. That day, he was in the office of the research laboratory where he worked at the time, at the Central University of Venezuela, in Caracas. I remember that everything was fine and that we left the office together to a nearby cafe to have a coffee while we discussed things about work at the cafeteria table, it was a very pleasant way to continue working, but taking another breath. When we got to the cafeteria, there was an announcement on the TV news that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Centre, that was shocking and the channel that was transmitting had connected live with the transmission of an American channel that was present close to the place.
It was something very impressive and among the colleagues we discussed that it was an unusual event, although suddenly we remembered in the discussion that on one occasion, decades ago, there was a case of a small passenger plane that crashed into the Empire State skyscraper, and That is why flashing lights were placed not only on the roof lightning rod but also every certain number of stories high to avoid another similar case. But that crash was at night and with poor environmental conditions, this crash was during the day and with clear visibility... Suddenly, we saw live how another plane approached the other tower and crashed, leaving a large amount of flames... We are speechless.
That was not an accident. A rare, suspicious, isolated event may seem accidental, but two such incidents occurring less than an hour apart and in the same place... There's no way that was an accident! This is definitely an attack!
We saw everything on the screen, we forgot about the coffee, the work and going back to the office. We wanted to know what was going on. After a while, we saw the towers fall and we knew that with the destruction of the #WorldTradeCenter an era was marked, both because of the symbolism that the site represented, and because of the large number of deaths that this attack had undoubtedly achieved. We returned to the office, but we did not have the head to work well, all this was happening in another country, but as humans, we feel terrible for the death of so many people. That night was that the news reported a little more what was happening, the attack was attributed to an Islamic terrorist group called Al Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden, ironically he was trained by the United States as part of the efforts of the Americans to control conflicts and tensions in the Middle East.
That #11September unleashed a fury that was unstoppable, paranoia also skyrocketed, the Americans cried out for revenge, they issued very radical laws, such as the Patriot Act, which came to question the same fundamental Human Rights, but there was not much to criticize them, if it happened to us, we would also want to take revenge.
The attack was not only in #NewYork, four planes were used and the Pentagon building, the emblematic seat of US military power, was also attacked. 2,996 people of 78 nationalities died in the attacks in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania according to official figures...too many deaths for a single day and in the same terrorist operation.
Al Qaeda achieved what it set out to do, it showed its enemies that they were not safe even in their own homes, it declared a war against the Western world, for its dissimilar cultures and for not being part of its religion, or at least its fanatical interpretation of Islam. What terrifies me is that these terrorists demonstrated something very terrifying with facts, they were people with a strong Faith, they did not argue, they did not reason, they only acted according to their #Faith and the orders of their religious and military leader... I must admit that since then my fear of #fanaticism has increased, and I view it with suspicion in any field that manifests a #Fanatic.
I wish the world is a better place, but I know that the current reality is not the best either, two decades ago I was shocked in that café by the mass deaths, but #wars, massacres and similar events continue to multiply among the humanity.
By the way, today I'm writing at dawn before the sun rises, taking advantage of the fact that I have electricity and I don't know if I'll have electricity when I wake up in a while, so I prefer to share my thoughts right now, because I'll leave them for later it can produce that you never share them, you never know. El GIFs que vez arriba, lo escogí para la publicación porque se asemeja a lo que yo tengo como recuerdo. Ese día, estaba en la oficina del laboratorio de investigación en donde trabajaba en ese entonces, en la Universidad Central de Venezuela, en Caracas. Recuerdo que todo estaba bien y que salimos juntos de la oficina a un cafetín muy cercano para tomar un café mientras discutíamos cosas del trabajo en la mesa del cafetín, era una forma muy agradable de seguir trabajando, pero tomando otro aire. Cuando llegamos al cafetín, estaba en las noticias del televisor el anuncio de que se había estrellado un avión contra el World Trade Centrer, eso fue impactante y el canal que estaba trasmitiendo se había conectado en vivo con la transmisión de un canal norteamericano que estaba presente cerca del lugar.
Era algo muy impresionante y entre los compañeros discutíamos que era un evento inusual, si bien de pronto recordamos en la discusión que en una oportunidad, décadas atrás, hubo un caso de un avión de pasajeros pequeño que se estrelló contra el rascacielos Empire State, y que debido a eso fue que se colocaron luces intermitentes no solamente en el pararayos del techo sino que también en cada cierta cantidad de pisos de altura para evitar otro caso parecido. Pero aquel choque fue de noche y con malas condiciones ambientales, este choque era de día y con visibilidad despejada... Repentinamente, vimos en vivo como otro avión se aproximaba a la otra torre y se estrellaba, dejando una gran cantidad de llamas... nos quedamos sin palabras.
Eso no era un accidente. Un evento raro y sospechoso, aislado puede parecer accidental, pero dos de esos incidentes ocurriendo con menos de una hora de separación y en el mismo lugar... ¡Eso es imposible que fuera un accidente! ¡Se trata sin dudas de un ataque!
Vimos todo en pantalla, olvidamos lo del café, lo del trabajo y el regresar a la oficina. Queríamos saber qué pasaba. Luego de un tiempo, vimos la caída de las torres y supimos que con la destrucción del #WorldTradeCenter se marcaba una era, tanto por el simbolismo que representaba el sitio, como por la gran cantidad de muertes que sin dudas este ataque había logrado. Regresamos a la oficina, pero no teníamos cabeza para trabajar bien, todo esto ocurría en otro país, pero como humanos, nos sentimos terrible por la muerte de tanta gente. Esa noche fue que las noticias informaron un poco más lo que pasaba, se atribuyó el ataque a un grupo terrorista islámico llamado Al Qaeda, dirigido por Osama Bin Laden, irónicamente él fue entrenado por Estado Unidos como parte de los esfuerzos de los norteamericanos de controlar los conflictos y las tensiones en el Medio Oriente.
Ese #11Septiembre desató una furia que fue imparable, la paranoia también se disparó, los norteamericanos clamaron venganza, emitieron leyes muy radicales, como la Ley Patriota, que llegaban a poner en duda los mismos Derechos Humanos fundamentales, pero no había mucho para criticarlos, si nos pasara a nosotros, también querríamos tomar venganza.
El ataque no solamente fue en #NewYork, se usaron cuatro aviones y se atacó también al edificio del Pentágono, la emblemática sede del poder militar norteamericano. 2,996 personas de 78 nacionalidades fallecieron en los ataques en Nueva York, Washington D.C., y Pennsylvania de acuerdo con las cifras oficiales... demasiadas muertes para un solo día y en una misma operación terrorista.
Al Qaeda logró lo que se propuso, demostró a sus enemigos que no estaban seguros ni en sus propias casas, declaró una guerra contra el mundo occidental, por sus culturas disímiles y por no ser parte de su religión, o al menos de su fanática interpretación del Islam. Lo que me aterra es que estos terroristas demostraron con hechos algo bien aterrador, ellos eran gente con una fuerte Fe, no discutieron, no razonaron, solamente actuaron de acuerdo a su #Fe y a las órdenes de su líder religioso y militar... debo admitir que desde entonces mi temor por el #fanatismo se incrementó y lo veo con sospecha en cualquier campo que se manifieste un #Fanatico.
Deseo que el mundo sea un lugar mejor, pero sé que la realidad actual no es tampoco la mejor, hace dos décadas que quedé impactado en ese cafetín por las muertes masivas, pero las #guerras, las masacres y los eventos similares continúan multiplicándose entre la humanidad.
Por cierto, hoy estoy escribiendo en la madrugada antes de que salga el sol, aprovechando que tengo servicio eléctrico y no sé si al despertar dentro de un rato tendré electricidad o no, así que prefiero compartir mis pensamientos en este momento, porque dejarlos para después puede producir que nunca los comparta, uno nunca sabe.
