It's raining, this Thursday in August, day 895 since the day the #quarantine was announced in #Venezuela due to the #Covid-19 #pandemic, it's a day that has made me run a bit. I am grateful for the rain, because with the poor piped water distribution service, the sky is a more constant and reliable source than the government company in charge of supplying the service, but, there is always a 'but', the same rain endangers that we are left without electricity due to the poor maintenance of the power lines and how worn out the equipment is, in short, that even good things have their problematic details.
I'd rather run around a bit to try and post, just in case I run out of power in the near future. Them, I checked today's #History to celebrate and found something interesting:
Today is International Hairdresser's Day, a date that was chosen to coincide with the date of death of the French King Louis IX in 1270. The relationship of this #King with the issue of #hairdressers has to do with the #story that during his reign, a wig carer did such a wonderful job that the King praised him by giving him the status of 'Free Man', for our days it may seem a bit strange, but it is that for the 13th century, the care of the wigs and beards was a job for commoners, getting a title given to the profession implied an important social ascent and recognition of talent and #art. The Hairdresser of the Court went from being a commoner to being a Knight of the Court, although it was a minimum rank of distinction, it is quite an achievement that changed the history of the personnel in charge of the aesthetics and clothing of the court and royal family.

Llueve, este jueves de agosto, día 895 desde aquel día en que se anunció la #cuarentena en #venezuela por la #pandemia de #Covid19, es un día que me ha puesto a correr un poco. Agradezco la lluvia, pues con el pobre servicio de distribución de agua por tuberías, el cielo es una fuente más constante y confiable que la empresa gubernamental encargada de suministrar el servicio, pero, siempre hay algún 'pero', la misma lluvia pone en peligro de que nos quedemos sin electricidad por el pobre mantenimiento del tendido eléctrico y lo desgastado que están los equipos, en fin, que incluso lo bueno tiene sus detalles problemáticos.
Prefiero correr un poco para tratar de publicar, por si acaso me quedo sin luz en un futuro cercano. Revisé que había hoy en la #Historia para celebrar y me encontré algo interesante:
Hoy es el Día Internacional del Peluquero, fecha que fue elegida por coincidir con la fecha de fallecimiento del Rey francés Luis IX en 1270. La relación de este Rey con el tema de los peluqueros tiene que ver con la historia de que durante su reinado, un encargado del cuidado de las pelucas realizó un trabajo tan maravilloso que el Rey lo enalteció al darle el estatus de 'Hombre Libre', para nuestros días puede resultar un poco extraño, pero se trata de que para el Siglo XIII, el cuidado de las pelucas y de la barba era un trabajo para plebeyos, lograr que se le diera un título a la profesión implicaba un ascenso social importante y un reconocimiento al talento y #arte. El peluquero de la corte pasó de ser un plebeyo a ser un Caballero de la corte, a pesar de que se trataba de un rango mínimo de distinción, es todo un logro que cambió la historia del personal encargado de la estética y la vestimenta de la familia real.

This King Louis IX is a character that I find interesting, perhaps because of his nickname of Just King, which was due to the introduction in legal regulations of the idea of presumption of innocence in criminal proceedings, in addition to establishing a position of Supreme Judge so that, in theory, an appeal could be requested from a decision of the Court or of the King himself, all these were very revolutionary things in reality, in the midst of kings with a despotic and absolutist vision and desire for power, these actions and legal mechanisms, in addition to ideas of investigating before punishing, well, all of this is something to highlight, perhaps that also explains a little that when he died he was almost immediately canonized by the Christian church of his time. Este Rey Luis IX es un personaje que me resulta interesante, quizás por su apodo de Rey Justo, que se debía a la introducción en la normativa jurídica de la idea de presunción de inocencia en los procedimientos criminales, además de instaurar un cargo de Juez Supremo para que, en teoría, se pudiera pedir una apelación de una decisión de la Corte o del mismo Rey, todas estas fueron cosas muy revolucionarias en realidad, en medio de reyes con visión y deseo despótico y absolutista del poder, estas acciones y mecanismos legales, además de ideas de investigar antes de castigar, pues, todo eso es algo a resaltar, quizás eso explique también un poco que al morir fuera casi de inmediato canonizado por la iglesia cristiana de su época. Bueno, eso de ser un Rey también puede que tuviera que ver en su designación como Santo, pero no lo voy a discutir mucho.
Por cierto, eso del arte de las pelucas de verdad que es llamativo y algunos trabajos que se han dejado registrados son obras de arte, como la #peluca de la ilustración acá abajo, aunque aclaro que no es del Siglo XIII sino muy posterior, se corresponde al Barroco, pero se ve bien impresionante.
