My Journey to Wealth and Riches
My grandmother taught us myths
I took after her
Believing every myth I heard
I wallowed in deep poverty
As a young man in his late 30s
I kept wondering how long?
How long do I continue this way
I've heard a couple of times
That true riches and wealth
Comes from one genuine source
Hardwork
Well, hardwork has never been my thing
Grandma once said:
When you've got a backup, you'll become rich
And here I am today
Embarking on this journey
In search of my backup
What could that be?
From one seer to another
One fortune teller to the other
One sorcerer to yet another
This search is hectic to be honest
After the fruitless search
In my fantasy and imagination
As I retire for the night
In the dreamland where grandma takes me to
I see her skeleton on a pile
Yep, a pile of treasures
She died fighting that I get rich
How sacrificial the old lady was
I hope this isn't a mere fantasy in the dreamworld
As I await a reward from my backup
Grandma
Your poem is evocative. I think hardwork is always the way out. Waiting for backups or moving from one seer to the other is a definite waste of time. Riches or treasures don't fall from the sky, instead we work for them.
You captured the image nicely in this poem. Well done! 🙂

I hope the backup is not someone being scammed by you, a catfish.
Grandma agrees her 30-year-old grandson is lazy.
