Hello Pukumundo Family!
It feels good to be here again with you all. In line with the theme for this week “The Singing Voice”, I will be vibing to another amazing song from the rock and metal genre known as “The Final Countdown” by the awesome rock band “Europe”.

This Swedish rock band was formed in Upplands Väsby in 1979. This band is one of the most successful Swedish metal and rock bands of all time. They were originally called Force when they formed the group. However, they wanted to achieve greater success and decided to work on their sound thereby making it more bam yet melodic in a pop-metal way.

The band's classic line-up was Joey Tempest (vocals), John Norum (guitar), Tony Reno (drums), and John Leven (bass). The contest won by the band in a national contest brought about a recording deal.

This brought about a change in their name from Force to Europe as part of launching their new brand or just rebranding their group to a greater audience. After the band released two major albums, they landed an international deal with Epic records. Later on, Tony Reno exited the group and was replaced by Ian Haugland, and Mic Michaeli (keyboardist) joined shortly after.

This song's lyrics describe a trip to Space and exiting planet Earth. It has an optimistic yet apocalypse vibe. The writer of the song, Joey Tempest explains that initially, the soundtrack was like that from a movie about an apocalypse in terms of leaving Earth when he was cooking it up. The lyrics also have a dreamy effect to it.

Furthermore, he stated that he did not expect the song to perform as well as it did. He explained that it was not one of the songs that were written to suit the taste of a global audience as it was written specifically for his band and as an opening song for their concert.

However, to his greatest surprise, the song became a hit and people from all over the world appreciate it and have gone on to use the song for all kinds of events. The song feels like an international anthem. The song has been interpreted in diverse ways and it makes it even more fun to think about its multipurpose ability.

Se siente bien estar aquí de nuevo con todos ustedes. En línea con el tema de esta semana "La voz cantante", voy a vibrar con otra increíble canción del género rock y metal conocida como "The Final Countdown" de la impresionante banda de rock "Europe".

Esta banda de rock sueca se formó en Upplands Väsby en 1979. Esta banda es uno de los grupos suecos de metal y rock más exitosos de todos los tiempos. Originalmente se llamaban Force cuando formaron el grupo. Sin embargo, querían alcanzar un mayor éxito y decidieron trabajar en su sonido haciéndolo más bam y a la vez melódico en plan pop-metal.

El autor de la canción, Joey Tempest, explica que inicialmente la banda sonora era como la de una película sobre un apocalipsis en cuanto a la salida de la Tierra cuando la estaba preparando. La canción se siente como un himno internacional. La canción ha sido interpretada de diversas maneras y eso hace que sea aún más divertido pensar en su capacidad polivalente.
