My Three Favourite posts challenge - a trip down memory lane!
Let me start by saying that I couldn't really choose my favourite posts... but it's the rediscovering part that counts, scrolling allllll the way down my posts feed until 2018 (almost 6 years, already??)! So a big thanks to @livinguktaiwan for this fun idea, and for those who don't know what I'm talking about, check her original posthere.
The ride to the past
More than choosing three posts from my blog, the coolest thing about this challenge was going back to the very beginning of my blogging career :) At this time, I was starting to dip my toes in the crypto world, and still remember how in awe I was for discovering that you could actually earn criptocurrencies by blogging, and the equivalent to "likes" in tradicional social media was actually a currency! I found out about steemit back then by browsing the internet, so I arrived a perfect newbie, without knowing anyone.
On a side note, it's funny to see some of the newcomers arriving nowadays, with all the different communities and curation projects, complaining about lack of votes; I scrolled to a ton of my early posts with a 0.0 value! 😁 And no, I wasn't being massively downvoted.
Remembered a ton of names that were so present back in the day, as flamingirl, that organized a ton of contests, and czechglobalhosts that did a daily photography contest as well; all of them vanished by now.
But I digress! Back to the topic: first of all... all my three posts were picked from my first months here!! And if in the following years I'm sure I've produced posts with a lot more quality, all these three are special: two of them for obivous reasons (more on that as I present them), and the other one because it closely relates to what I still do today; actually, let's start with that one, and you'll quickly understand if you usually check my ramblings:
Posting about birds when #featheredfriends wasn't a thing
Post number 1:
Birding in Portugal - a walk in the field
Wildlife observation has been a hobbie since as long as I can remember, and around 1998 started learning a lot more aboout birdwatching, and going to the fields frequently. Most of my posts are about wildlife, and is doubtful that is gonna change. Nowadays, we have an awesome community called #featheredfriends, a very active one that organizes weekly challenges (thanks @nelinoeva!), so it's easier to find these kind of posts. If I didn't overlooked anything, this was probably one of my first birdwatching posts in the blockchain, so it definitely deserves a mention!
Getting my creativity flowing
Post number 2:
Steem Monsters Common Card Fantasy Story Contest! Week 11 - A tale of the Giant Rocs
Oh, Splinterland's early days! I've started playing the game just a few months after its debut, but was following the project even before it went live; I love fantasy lore, and enjoy gaming too, so fell in love with the game since I started hearing about it. One of Splinterlands initiatives was doing a weekly writing challenge about one of the cards: supposedly, the winning stories would become part of the card's lore, so it was an awesome opportunity to be a small part of the game! Besides, the best stories also received alpha packs, so I figured it was a great way to get some cards. It had been loooooong since I had done some free writing, and this was the first one (of many, and even managed to win first place in a few of the challenges!) that I wrote! It was fun trying to make up fantasy stories, and especially trying to integrate the card's abilities in them.
This was also the first post that got a BIG upvote. I believe I didn't had any post worth more than 50 or 60 cents at that time, and remember that one day when loggin in, my reputation had gone up two or three points, which I found odd! Only then did I saw that the post had been visited by curie, and my jaw dropped.
A family secret!
Post number 3:
Learn to do "Abafadinho"... home-made style!
This is another one I'm really fond of.
A big part of the family I'm closest with comes from a small village. At early Autumn, out small vineyards are ready for harvest, and some of the grapes are used to make a traditional beverage called Abafadinho. I really enjoyed the family time and all the process; although we do this frequently, I think this was one of the first times I was more active in helping out! So, decided to register the process and place on the blockchain how does my family do it! Who knows, maybe some of you get inspired to try it as well!
Can't believe how long it has been since I started writing here; now I'm curious to see what are YOUR favourites!
Hive on!
Still haven't joined Splinterlands? In what planet do you live in? Click the banner below and join the fun! (It has my referral link; you can go directly to the website if you don't want to use it; either way... join in! 😎 )
Being so long on the blockchain, I can imagine it is hard to pick just three posts. But I read the announcment post and it is OK o choose more. I may give it a go too.
Thank you for mentioning the Feathered Friends Community. 🙂 So nice to choose a post about birds among your favourites.
I just HAD to put a bird post here; after all, #featheredfriends is probably the community I interact the most with! ;)
Birding, Splinterlands and Family sounds like the Pardinus I know 🙂 I've been here forever too. Just lost the faith for awhile lol I wish I had all the Splinterlands cards from when I sold out years ago. Would have saved me lots of money getting back to where I am today.
Glad to have you here again. I actually remembered you when checking the posts, since you told me you remembered my giveaways still in steemit; I checked, I've started them in 2018! I can imagine the little fortune of cards I have given away in these almost 6 years; hey, we have to spread the love, right? ;)
Exactly!!! I was hoping if people would be dedicated enough to go through their whole archive of posts, it would be a nice trip down memory lane. I certainly enjoyed the process, reading some of my old posts and looking at the measly few cents payout. Lots of newbies don't know how lucky they are now to get one dollar reward, let alone tens of dollars.
Thanks for sharing your favourite posts.
BTW, have you drank all your wine yet, or is it still maturing? 😀
It was fun seeing them all again! I would love an advanced search feature that would allow us to search posts by date, like month/year.
All gone! ;)
When Hive SQL is back up, check out the site I included at the end of my challenge post. That's a very good site to search for posts and you can also search by key words
Also keywords? That's useful indeed. I had already bookmarked it, thanks for sharing! !LUV
I love all of those posts but the one I love most is that one which depicts wildlife observation
The pictures are what makes it look really good
Thanks for the visit!
You did so well going back to your posts when you first joined the blockchain. It was fun as I read through. And yes, newbies want big upvotes now. When I started too, I barely had anything but now, I get something which is nice.
Haha,... I can't wait for my jaw to drop, too. I have never gotten up to 40 on the blockchain before. I once got a 30, and that was one happy day for me as it was unexpected. Well, that's that.
Posts on family? A sweet one to read. These are very interesting posts you've dropped, and your curiosity is well served because I had my post up a few hours ago, too.

30 is already awesome. More than the value of an individual post, consistency is key; that's how good accounts are made. Thanks for the visit!
Yeah... consistency is the key. That's how to roll 😁. You are welcome
