Magical places

No, there's nothing extraordinary about this place; just a little village somewhere in Portugal, similar to many others spreaded throughout the country. Yet, it's magical to me. And a great place for a #monomad challenge too.

There are too many memories, too many moments of joy (and sadness, too), too much time spent here, all enough to make this place one of my favourite getaways. The memories of harvesting and planting on my grandparents lands always bring a smile to my face.

For countless times, I've made the small trip to the outskirts of the village, helping my grandfather with this little piece of farmable land... or should I say, keeping him company, watching him work the land while I was busy searching for critters all around and doing what kids do when they have free time among the nature.

And although the birdwatching hobbie that I hold up to this day only started way later, since I was a kid i loved wildlife; I learned a few identifications from my grandfather, actually: it was he that taught me the sounds of hoopoes and cuckoos.

The cold mountain rivers also hold quite a few memories as well; too cold to dip even a finger in wintertime, but oh so refreshing in the summer months!

Some say that, even in Summer, the water is too cold; I tend to disagree, obviously.

Even if it was colder: imagine a Summer day, not a cloud in the sky, temperatures over 30 ºC, a bunch of likeminded kids, a trip to the nearby river... and this setting.
