Cancer awareness one squat at a time
If you have no idea what this post is about when you read the title, here is @livinguktaiwan's post explaining it all.
@livinguktaiwan launched the challenge, @dbooster followed, and I succumbed to the pressure and dragged @xrayman to join in as well. Halfway across this challenge seems a good time to do a followup; and all you reading this post should do 50 squats right this instant as punishment for not joining in! :)
So, 100 squats a day for the whole November month, bringing awareness to one of our worst enemies: cancer.
And how am I fairing? Well, lousy, comparing to my challenge mates! Livinguktaiwan and dbooster are way ahead of the 100 daily squats, xrayman is going hulk mode, and I'm still lagging behind: been doing the daily 100 squats, but since I only started on the fourth day, I had 300 squats due.
Yes, I could blame it on the throat infection, or in the increased workload... but when there's a will, there's a way! And after today, only 150 squats due to a clean sheet; all uphill from there!
Total Squats up to date | Target | To go |
---|---|---|
1450 | 3000 | 1550 |
Squatting is an awesome exercise, and truth is, I already feel a difference in my legs! Apart from being for a noble cause, these kind of challenges add one thing that is paramount to see results: consistency!! Having a daily goal makes you not skip the workouts and push harder, even if there are constraints that could, in a different setting, make you miss you session. And if there's a sign that I should be squatting daily, this was what I've found yesterday, as I turned another page in my bedtime read:
A whole squat-related chapter!
I was trying to find how much funds has this challenge raised to far, but couldn't find any info. If you want to check the work these guys do, pay a visit to the Stand Up To Cancer website.
Until the end of the month, I'll find a way to recover those missing squats, and probably add a few more, so my 3 companions can't mock me for lagging so much behind.
Keep on squatting! 😉

Times go by so quick when you're having fun, and I can believe we're half way there already. I've been falling a bit behind these few days, have some catching up to do, but will surely keep going as I have your guys as a support team. It's been really great! Keep squating!
I will, and will probably kick @xrayman in the knee next time I see him to see if he slows down a bit... 😏😏😏
You're doing great, thanks a ton for the challenge; we wouldn't be doing it if it weren't for you!
Growing up, one of the infection I feared most is cancer, it is incurable
Not exactly, and unfortunately more age doesn't add any protection...
You are right
Squating with friends is always better 🙂
Ahahahaha have to try that approach! 😁😁
Of course it is a very dangerous disease and it is very important for a person to do all these things to avoid it. Exercise can prevent it.
