Burn, legs, burnnnnn!
Well... some challenges are too good to pass. And this is one of them.
I have to blame thank @livinguktaiwan and @dbooster for this; and for what's appearing on my feed, it seems a lot more people are taking this challenge, which is just awesome!
So, what are we talking about, anyway?
You'll find all the information here!
The above challenge is organised by Stand up to cancer, a fundraising campaing to help improve/accelerate cancer treatments research. Their webpage does a way better job than me in explaining everything in detail, detailing some of the current projects and efforts, so I won't dwelve into it. But for this month, the challenge is simple: spread the word and do 100 squats daily! You can join the challenge and the fundraising campaign on their website.
We all probably have lost someone close due to cancer, and having spent part of this year supporting one of the closest family members in dealing with 2 different neoplasias, i can say I'm even more sensible to the theme. Either by this initiative, or any other one, contribute if you can; in Portugal, for instance, the Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro has also been organizing a fundraising campaign, that finishes today. And they'll give you a fun sticker, like the one I found in my father's shirt earlier today, when I joined him for lunch:
As for this challenge... anything that makes you move and exercise is good! Being in good health is one of the ways you can prevent getting sick in the first place, and squats are a great exercise! I do workout regularly, and today after work, off to the gym!
Since I'm joining on day 4, I have 300 squats due, so started this challenge with some extra weight to start off in the right feet(s)! So, after the regular warm up:
10 normal bodyweight squats
10 warm up squats with bar only (20kg)
3 x 10 weighted squats (30kg)
- 3 sets of 25 bodyweights squats, alternating with deadlifts
Bringing me to a grand total of... 125 squats! And all this while hearing someone in labour pain a guy lifting dumbells, reminding me of a sign I saw in another gym a couple years ago, but that still holds true to this day: Screaming DOES NOT increase your muscle mass. :)
Now that my joints finally seem to be getting better (looong story...), I hope to start hitting the gym more often; either ther or at home, 100 squats a day for this month it is (plus the 275 extra ones I'm still due)!
Helping to fight cancer AND improving you health; sounds like a double win to me! What are you waiting for? (@xrayman, no pressure, but I'm tagging you too :)
Still haven't joined Splinterlands? In what planet do you live in? Click the banner below and join the fun! (It has my referral link; you can go directly to the website if you don't want to use it; either way... join in! 😎 )
Good health is underrated
My best wishes for those battling with cancer right now
I hope they scale through
Thank you! Join the fun! ;)
Welcome to the squats challenge!! This is wicked awesome now I have two support buddies!!
You really are going the whole hog, catching up with the previous days and doing your squats with lifts
#YOLO 😁😁😁
I needed an incentive to visit gym more frequently, so this one came just in the perfect time! Trust me, in a couple of weeks 100 squats will feel like a walk in the park, you'll smash those reps! ;)
Thank you @ewkaw and @qurator!
You went all in 😂 bodyweight would have been fine to catch up lol Interesting challenge.
Might as well go beastmode since we're at it! 😁😁😁 Honestly, I was due to go to the gym that day, this xhallenge just provided an extra motivation. Join in on the fun, it will help in your hikes! ;)
I laugh so loud when I read this! I completely understand that... That is one reason for me, to be out of the gym in the "beast mode hour" a.k.a. from 6-8pm... It looks like a theme park, or a crowded beach, where you cannot place your towel anywhere Ahahah Besides the "screaming" and "narcissistic/mirror glued" dudes!
Since I'm not as good lifter has you are, maybe I will join you and @livinguktaiwan in this challenge and start with a overdue not tomorrow (because I have a dentist appointment), but in Tuesday... Let me see if I can find motivation and energy in my lousy body condition! Ahahah
Congratulations on joining this great challenge!
Saying "I can't do 100 squats tomorrow because I have a dentist appointment" is the equivalent to that famous guy fleeing the house when the fire was near because he had a doctor appointment... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Stop procrastinating and start squatting! With the amount of time you spend at the gym this is peanuts! 😉
Yep, recognize the pattern! :)))
Wonderful to have you on board! Thank you for joining and great job on your first day!
Thank you for sharing! 100 more today + my usual Sunday run, having goals helps a ton in keeping a routine! ;( Cheers! !BEER

I wish you good luck and strength and endurance! I also have squats today. But I do an old forgotten exercise - the Jefferson Squat.
I hd to google it, had never heard of them! :) Just as long as it's exercise and done in good form, everything counts!
