A postcard found its way!
Little experiments that put a smile on your face. I arrived home today after a crazy work week, and what whas in my mail box? This.
A postcard from Taiwan! How cool is that?? 😀
@livinguktaiwan started a little experiment a while ago and volunteered to send postcards to anyone willing to receive them. I'm one of those people that actually STILL sends postcards to a few friends whenever I travel to different locations, so loved the idea and jumped right in. I had the pleasure to meeting her in real life at the last Hivefest, but unfortunately for a very short time (so many people, so little time; time flies when you're having fun!); as you say, we definitely need more catching up! Thanks a ton for taking the time for this cool experiment, loved receiving this!
It's such a joy when virtual life finds its way to real life, and gives you the chance to meet and interact with the persons behind the names you got used to see on the blockchain. Even better, when those interactions thrive outside that first and often brief contact. Travelling is definitely one of the greatest things in the world, how else would you meet kind souls that take a little of their time to send postcards to almost complete strangers? And as I am a big fan of retribution... hope mine will find its way soon too! Again, thanks a ton @livinguktaiwan! ;)
This postcard also made me realise how much I miss Asia, and I should try and add a couple more pins on my map (the one on the background of the photo: it's a world map puzzle, where I pin all the countries I've visited!)
From the temples and bustling cities of Thailand, to the misty forests of Malaysia...
... I have tons of awesome memories from my trips to southeast Asia. Heck , I even got to ride on a train similar to the one on my postcard!
And not only sights and places. As someone who travels to see wildlife, being able to see species completely different of the ones I can find in my own country is the cherry on top. And although I love going to the wilderness, there's even no need of that: in urban parks, you can see beauties like this water monitor, contemplating a lake!
Next on the to-do list... figure out the next place where I'll be sending postcards from! :)
Still haven't joined Splinterlands? In what planet do you live in? Click the banner below and join the fun! (It has my referral link; you can go directly to the website if you don't want to use it; either way... join in! 😎 )
Amazing!
I love receiving postcards! And I'm also one of the "oldies" who still send postcards. Not as much as I did 5 years ago, I confess! The real interaction of real people, with objects - in this case postcards - that were in the hand of the person who sent them, and which, to add, has their handwriting on the back, makes the whole experience magical and gives a unique meaning to the gesture!
By the way... in just over six weeks I'll be on vacation! hahaha
Perfect timing, I think you can post about travel freely when you come back??!! 🙂 ✌️
May you have a bout of diarrhoea! 🤣🤣🤣
Kidding, hope you have a blast!
Post cards are a lost pleasure. My family occasionally sends them. I had a grandma that knew I liked stamps and she would send me first day of issue covers for new stamps on postcards.
I still love to send them; I know there's a handful of close friends that love to receive them!
Yeah!!! Thanks so much for letting me know my postcard arrived safely, it was fun connecting with so many people off chain in the old school way. Can't wait to see what comes back!!
What a coincidence you got a train ride photo as well, please do post and pin on Pinmapple sometime. And.... I even got a Train Spotting community https://peakd.com/c/hive-170068 if that suits you 🙃
Yep, some habits are great to keep!
I've posted about that train ride before, it's an awesome (and famous) ride between Ella and Kandy, in Sri Lanka. Don't think I was using pinmapple back then! :) !LUV
