Some seabirds today for Shadow Hunters.
80kph winds here today that they call the "Cape Doctor".
A double shadow here and taken as some sea sand was sand papering my face.
The Cape Doctor is a South Easter wind and so named as the locals believe that it blows all of the germs away. It whips the fine sea sand up on the beach and it's really not a nice experience when the fine abrasive sand connects with one's face.
Obviously the birds are used to the conditions and I watched them going about their normal business on the beach.
This Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus) made an impressive landing on the sand.
Look! That shadow at the left has two heads in it hahaha.
It was caused by the female Grey-headed Gull flying over above the landing Kelp Gull.
See here how the wind was pushing them backward and the guy below had a lot to say about the wind.
Now how is this for a landing shadow as he came in low to avoid the wind scooping him back up.
And here was a nice shadow on the sea.
Finally this madam also showed us a nice shadow when she landed.
She is also a Grey-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus cirrocephalus).
I concentrated solely on getting shadows on the beach today as we returned from fetching our car from a panel repair shop. They did a beautiful job and now we have wheels again to get around. Although our car is a little old as it is a 2015 model, it has only 60,000 kms on the clock and this little VW Polo Maxx car must last us for many more years.

Yes great timing (and maybe even better patience too..lol.🤣..)
I'm still not 100% sure what camera I'm going to get in the end, (maybe the Nikon p950 as the Canon 70 doesn't have bulb mode in manual but the Nikon does...) but I have soooo many plans for it when I do and I just can't wait to be able to get similar shots as you do!

Well I like the way that you prepare for a new camera and my only criteria was that I wnted a camera that was able to get a close big full moon shot. Thus far tt has done all of the things for me that I wanted to get.
Yes, I have 4 needs for my new camera- to do macro, astral, lightpainting and moon- anything that I have that zoom range in.
I did ask the local camera shop to check the canon 70 because I could not find one iota in on even their website about the features in manual mode, but the guys at the shop confirmed no bulb and very little functions in manual, whereas the Nikon can do it all.
Great, then it sounds like the Nikon is the ideal camera for you.

Yes but then so many people are telling me to go for the interchangeable lens bodies...
I will cross that bridge when it comes to it...
Whatever works for you is what you should seek.
The reason why I didn't want a camera with interchangeable lenses is that lenses are very expensive.
Yes exactly- and heavy.
I remember back in the mid 80's when I worked in camerahouses selling the complete camera as 1 package for 1 price, and then if you wanted extra lenses, ofcourse they would cost extra.
That was in the days when you paid just the one price for a loaded ham/salad sandwich.
Now you pay for every component separately, which works out to be a hell of a lot more expensive and that sandwich which used to be $5-6 is now $10-12 for the same ingredients, like they way that cameras are now sold...
The difference is that now people pay 10 times more for the lenses than one did for the camera body.
So no, I am happy with my camera.
Yeah so true and that to me is one of the best selling points to BUY a bridge camera and NOT a body + lenses (that's NOT a proper sandwich is it..🤣..)
