Some beautiful hot day photos

We are sitting at 34C now at midday and yes it is very hot.
120 (2).JPG
Heat without water is like a party with no music :)

Oh yes, South Africa is now in the summer season and we could only nip out early this morning, even though it was already hot, to escape the peak temperatures later on.
I could have placed this post in #fascinatinginsects or in #amazingnature, but because the bird photos outnumber the other photos, I have decided to place the post directly into #featheredfriends.
Hope that you will like it.

The first two photos are of a Red veined Dragonfly (Trithemis arteriosa) and in the second photo you can see how the sun turns its body into a pinkish color.
128.JPG

Right here we go with our resident wild Cape Robin-chats (Cossypha caffra) in the bird bath.
296.JPG

298.JPG

Robbie and his wife surely enjoyed the water and the sun is so sharp that we have to refill the bird bath 3 times a day.
I cannot put a canopy, or umbrella over the bath, as they will not see the arrival of any predators or raptors.
306.JPG

Finally we had this little squirrel lamely lying on her full stomach in the heat.
258.JPG

But not so lame as not to watch a chancer grabbing one of her nuts on the window sill. She already ate many nuts, but she felt that all of the nuts were hers.
261.JPG

And yes, I told this story in a conversational tone in order to afford you, the reader a chance to tell me what you are doing to escape the heat.
Then the post will also serve as a mind and heart warmer for our friends up north that are now sitting in the snow. Just remember that your summer will also once again make it's return.

A happy Saturday to all and that's all friends.

Wonderful dragonfly. It's looking so beautiful. The color of birds also so amazing. Nice photography

Nature is just so therapeutic isn’t it. I’ve tried photographing dragonflies before, it’s all down to the time of day. Never succeeded. Maybe this year.

Absolutely, a place of solace and truth. We have the dragonflies all day and one must just know how to look for them. I hope that you will get some on camera this year and if not then !LOLZ

Lovely photos and post, Zac.
The dragonfly is beautiful, but today I like the second photo of the robins most ... and the look of the squirrel up to her nuts ☺️

I don't need to escape the heat because we have -3C today 😁

I decided to just put a mix up there in the post today my friend and it seems that some people like it.
Oh yes I was wondering when you would start to tease me about your lovely cool weather 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

It's easier to put more and more layers of clothes on against the cold but when it's hot you can't get more naked than naked 🤣

I have learned a trick today: you could wrap yourself in wet newspaper and the wind will cool you down 😁

Ha, then you fall asleep all wrapped up and some young explorers discover what they think is a mummy.
Then they give you a Formaldehyde injection to prevent the mummy from falling apart during transit and you wake up in a glass coffin in an Egyptian museum 🤣🤣🤣

All because one piece of the newspaper that you wrapped yourself with was an article on King Pharaoh 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

But it would be fun to scare the visitors of the museum by just opening the eyes or let a fart ... 🤣

Good afternoon Hannes,

Hahaha, you mean Hannes the farting mummy, as you were the one that was wrapped in newspaper.
I was only the photographic journalist that will appear in Time magazine as the photographer of the year 🤣 !LOLZ

I think we get 6 lolz per day and here is my first one. They don't allow me to give one person more than two at a time.

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

so you are photographing a fart? Well if you manage to take a photo of a fart you will even become the photographer of the century 🤣 !LOLZ

That LOLZ thing is right, I have tried it out.

Good afternoon Hannes,

Answering early as I want to try to get some early sleep tonight. Last night was bad in the heat and I had may 3 hours of sleep.

Oh yeah, that's easy as my camera has supersonic lenses and I can take photos of the wind 🤣!LOLZ

How do you mean it's right? Can we give more than 2 lolzes to a person?

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

oh yes, I want to be in bed by 8pm tonight, thanks 😉

Three hours of sleep are not enough, but I can understand that the heat must be horrible.

I meant you were right, because I could give 6 !LOLZ - 2 to 3 people.

Good afternoon Hannes,

A difficult day and I have to answer now, as I might not have time later.
So tonight you can go to bed at 7pm 🤣!LOLZ

Last night was even worse and we have had a heat warning of 40+C.

Ah yes, I understand what you mean and it is correct 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Good afternoon Zac,

I hope everything is ok and you are only busy, my friend.

Nobody here could sleep at 40 degrees or even at 30 C sleeping would be impossible. When it has 20 degrees during the night it's called a tropical night here.

The weekend is here and I have no plans what to do. Haven't had any time this week to plan anything, but I will definitely go to bed earlier tonight and decide what to do when I wake up sometime in the middle of the night 🤣 !LOLZ

Thank you Hannes and yes I am okay and it was a heap of new work 😊

I think by now you have seen that some areas in Australia are clocking 50,7 C.
I mentioned it in my post and the equaled a record that was set 62 years ago. This made me think that these conditions have existed long ago and way before global warming, so the planet is just going through the same cycle again 😉
Or maybe this time it will be much worse.

Hahaha, so I hope your vision in the middle of the night has materialized 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

I'm glad to hear that, Zac 😀

Yep, I have heard about the heat in Australia and that's really hot. I also think our weather is going through a kind of a cycle, but global warming is also fact and I also believe that it makes it all worse.

I got up later than I thought and just drove around. I took only some photos of this castle in the fog:

A big issue took place and thankfully my warnings were confirmed by another independent soul.
People know our experience and a good friend told us that he was going to push a lot of charity money into an area where we used to live. So I warned him to stay out of the area as we had many difficulties there with Papillon.
Thankfully he told us at the meeting today that he will no longer do it as another person told him the same thing. Now he will open a new branch of his charity in another area that we agreed would have better benefits for the people.

Of course global warming will also have a more dire influence my friend and we can only pray about the end result, as this time round many more bad things are going to happen.

I saw this photo on twitter Hannes and in my mind it is a sure winner.
Have you ever visited that castle?

Cheers and thanks.

Your friend can be glad to have you as friend.

I agree, Zac, every bad weather and such has happened before, but this time it will be much, much worse and it's our fault.

Thank you, my friend 😊 No, I haven't been up there yet. It's a castle ruin and there's not much to see, I believe.

I am sure that you will do the same for me Hannes, as in my book that's how friendships work.
Anyone that tries to tear a person down is not a friend 😉

Our fault indeed and the scrambles to fix things have already begun, but it's too late as they should have started to listen 20 years ago. So the damage is done and many scientists have warned about this result. But the governments laughed at the "simple" idea of global warming.

Oh! Even if it's a ruin, you can get stunning shots with the ruins in the foreground and snowy sunsets in background methinks 😊

Cheers and thanks.

That depends on what it is, my friend: if you love sweet drinks and I know that the drink you have just got is sour like a lemon I wouldn't say anything because i want to see your face when you drink it 🤣 !LOLZ

But I completely agree with you on anything else that could be or happen 😃

Yep, and the kids or our kids will hate us for that.

Maybe, but I prefer to enjoy sunsets without people around me 😉

Not really, I don't like when it is very cold. However, we need snow for the course of nature. We need water in dams for the coming summer.

Yes snow is needed and you have to endure as it as for a logical reason.
Our problem is getting hotter every summer season. Unbearable.

Oh, I hear that you are very creative. :) I hesitate to give you another comment to answer, but, being I like you, I thought, why not??

I didn't post last night and I haven't been on to answer comments in two days. You caught me trying to play catch up!

We had temperatures like that for a long time last year and it was pretty dreadful.

Same same my friend and I never mind :)

Yes, leaving the comments for two days must be a nightmare to catch up with. I also had that during the black out days and one can so quickly lose touch. Then it's an issue to build it up again.
So I try my best to answer every day, but due to our time differences, most of the comments are a day old.
Fortunately my crowd got used to it 😊

And they are telling us that with global warming the heat will be increasing annually here. Soon we will be living in hell. In this heat veldfires increase and at the moment the residents of Kleinmond, a seaside town are worried, as there is a major fire in the Overstrand mountains that are crawling closer to the town. So we are all praying for rain.

I will pray along with you because my mother-in-law and her family live in Southern California where they have wildfires every year and it's scary frankly. So that is a big worry and I am so behind on my comments, always. I will catch up.

Very scary for folks to lose everything that they have worked their whole life for. Interesting Kleinmond is a village where many retired reverends, pastors and priests live.
The good news is that they had 200 firefighters that contained the fire on the outskirts of the town and it seems that they are going to beat the fire, as it is cooler today with no strong winds.

It is truly scary for them, every single year. I am sad for the village to have it so close like that, but grateful for the grace shown by God.

South Africa is so beautiful and has amazing creatures and people. It is so painful to watch these things happen all around you.

Stay safe and thanks for the LUV!

Yes it is really creating havoc to be evacuated from one's home as what do you take and what do you leave to be sacrificed to the flames? It can take tears off a person's life.
But thankfully as you say, God was watching out for them and not one house was burnt.

Can you believe that even with all of the bad things about the fire, there is also one good thing?
The fynbos need fire to be replenished. So next season the fynbos will re-grow in abundance.
Amazing when one thinks about it as we always see a fire as the destruction of everything.
