A walk in the freedom of nature.

Power shutdown again and a delight to be outside.
314.jpg

It happened again today, as we were schedulded for a 4pm power shut down. So we hurried and prepared to get everything done before the hour of 4, but it was all so unneccesarry, as the power down never took place.
We took a walk just in case and here is the result of our short walk.

A closer look at the pink flowers that lined the walkway.
315.jpg

There were also patches of white flowers.
318.jpg

The roads can get a bit difficult in our area. That is not our car in the photo, but we manage with our little VW Polo.
399.jpg

A lovely shot of the dam with the island in the center.
335.jpg

Yep, the clouds were building up into beautiful patterns.
424.jpg

The sunrays here, as it sunk behind the cloud, looked absolutely lovely.
569.jpg

They just can't seem to get the power generation running smoothly in our country. There are all kinds of doom stories going about that it might never be restored to its former glory, but we do what we can in the meantime. Never easy and there don't seem to be any constructive plans to solve the power generation problems. The system is very old and all things are starting to fall apart. We will have to wait and see what the future holds.

And That's All Friends!

I love exploring. Recently I've been posting about urban exploration, but nature exploration is my thing and this kind of posts give me some sort of nostalgia for the outdoors. I hope you didn't go outside because of the power shutdown but thanks to it haha, either way I now am looking forward to the weekend, those pics inspired me to do some naturexploring.

Hi Eric, what a surprise and I am glad that you popped up in here.

I also like nature exploring and have done it at every opportunity that I get. All of my posts on Hive are witness to this. Now with the power cuts I only get more opportunities to get out there and it is great.
I hope that your weekend will turn out to be a great one and we wish you only the best

Capetonians are better off than the Durbanites, we just came out of power black out number three for today!

The word 'gatvol' does not even start to come into play when the excuse is to have enough power for municipal elections, hey has any told the powers that be we don't even vote electronically! Put your X on the mark of the thousands stepping forward to take the kitty and do the next run.... (almost as many wanting your vote as there are actually going to vote, interesting outcome to be expected...)

Are you not the lucky one to escape into the country to catch a breather, amazing flowers out to greet you too!

Now what can I say about this Lady Joan.

Really, I can't even find any words that could make you feel better, as there are no words for the situation that our country is in now. Two big new powerstations were announced with great fanfare as our salvation, but because of corruption and poor workmanship, they turned out to be two big white elephants.

Our navy is kaput with all of their expensive new armaments sitting and rotting at the harbor.
One can find syndicates around every corner and the country is riddled with drugs.

Everything else are just poltical spin. but the jackal will soon bite its own tail, as the truth are starting to appear with frightening regularity.
Some interesting times lay ahead.

So, what can I say? Nothing but !LUV

A lovely walk, Zac, beautiful flowers and landscape - I love the sunrays in the last photo 😃

How can you be sure that the water on the flooded road isn't deeper than your car? Does Marian walk in front of the car to check the depth of the water? 🤣

!BEER and !WINE - both make a nice dinner with !PIZZA :)

Guten tag Hannes,

Thank you and yes, I knew that you would like those rays 😎

Hahaha, fortunately I know the road and our car is high enough to get through. Normally it's the roads that I don't know, like the one in Thabazimbi that buckled my front wheels that worry me.
So no, if I doubt a road now, Marian takes the wheel and I check the depth with a long tree branch 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Goeienaand Zac,

I thought because Marian is smaller than you you would let her go in front and as long as the head sticks out on the water the car would be safe 🤣 but I should have thought that you are a Gentleman 😉

Goeienaand Hannes 🤣

I think that you and I both try to be gentlemen and that's why I let her carry the bags of groceries and I carry my newspaper when we walk out of the shop, to look respectable you know.
Marian is so short that at ankle depth in the water for me, is knee deep for her, so she is not a very good gauge to use for water depths 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Guten Abend Zac 😉

yep, that's the definition of a real Gentleman 😂

Marian must be of the same size as my mother is - she needs two pillows on the drivers seat to see through the front window 🤣

Angenehmen nachmiddag Hannes,

Hey I am getting good with the greetings old chap, as this is only my gentleman manner 🤣

Hahaha, no, Marian is not pygmy size as she is a wee bit taller 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

I'm too tired today to ask the Google translation service, my friend, so I only say good evening Zac 😁

So you say my mum is a Pygmy and I must be a Pygmy goat then 😂🤣

Good evening Hannes,

Greetings restored as I was only fooling around a bit 😘

Nope, Marian's sister is much taller than her so I don't think that you are a pygmy goat 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Rather a stubborn mountain goat that refuses to have patience 🤣🤣🤣

Good evening Zac,

haha, yes, I forgot that you have got a photo ... but you are wrong, I would love to have patience, I'm only too impatient to learn how to have it 😂

Good evening Hannes,

Oh yes, I do have a photo and I will never forget it 🤣

You see? Impatience is the opposite of patience and the two will NEVER work together.
So at some time you are going to have to make decision about which one of them you are going to serve. The first has many troubles and the latter has many rewards.
You know what I will say here 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

seen me once and never forgotten me 🤣

Such is life, my friend, but you may be sure that I will learn to lock Mr Impatience in a hidden room in my brain and let Lady Patience be with me all the time ☺️

Hi Hannes (Greeted previously)

Nothing abnormal about you that I saw, or wait, you had only one hidden mountain goat horn 🤣🤣

Hahaha, best would be for your to chase Mr. Impatience out of the room in your brain, as then Lady Patience will have an empty room to move in 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Well, I hope never to need a wheel chair or similar ... I'll take Lady Patience by her hand and we sit down on a bench, waiting patiently for the sunset 😃

I also hope that you will never need a wheel chair and the way I am going lately, I think that if I am kept alive, then in my old age I will definitely be wheelchair bound.

You and Lady Patience "sitting" on a bench???
Who are you trying to fool 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.

You will need a wheel chair with 4x4 and a strong motor 😉

I mean it seriously, sitting on a bench and watching the sun rising or setting ... for two minutes or three 🤣

Oh yeah and it's time for me to sit down and design a small 4x4 wheelchair. Battery powered of course, as I don't like noisy things in the bush 🤣
It must also be painted in camouflaged colors, so that the big birds in flight don't notice it 😘

Hahaha, I will believe you when you say sitting for two hours or three 🙏

Cheers and thanks.

Notice was received and we now have 3 powers cuts every day. 2,5 hours each meaning that we lose approximately 7.5 hours of every day. We are now at Level 4.

Don't forget a solar panel as roof. It will keep you dry in the rain and protects you from the sun plus it recharges the batteries 😃

I can't even sit for two hours at work 🤣

Just told some thoughts about the power cuts in the other reply.

Ha, and elderly lady resident called me here, as she is off the the electrical grid with her own solar power.
But tonight we all have electricity and she has none.
She did the wise thing by phoning the guy that installed the solar panels 😥

Hahaha, yeah I also used to be a hyper active guy and that's why I hated to sit in class rooms at school.
But now I am just a calm and kind gentleman that can stand for half a day to get a shot 🤣

Cool yes, I saw that.

Cheers and thanks.

Solar power is a fine thing as long as it works and as long as you have enough light during the day, and as long as the guy who installs the solar panels knows what he does 😉

I hate still sitting even more when it's a boring or unnecessary meeting or speech.

Hahaha, and that's the trick isn't it? "as long as the guy who installs the solar panels knows what he does"

If everyone here knew what they were doing, we wouldn't have black outs and we wouldn't need solar power 🤣

Sad to say this, but in my younger days, I used every trick in the book to stay out of the 1 hour church services on Sundays. Often got into trouble with my mom because of it, but a hiding is better that having to sit still for an hour or more 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

That's very true Zac, if everyone would know what he does we would have a better world anyway.

As kids we didn't like many things which we later often loved.

Totally agreed Hannes, but since money reigns everyone rather seeks luxury and riches rather than actual working for it.

Yeah so strange but very true, as then we understand life better as adults.

Could solar panels be an alternative? I believe that it must be quite stressful to know that someday somehow a power shut down will happen and you have to wrap you life around it. Going in nature is great though, with or without power shut down

Solar panels are way too expensive for us at this stage of the battle.
But yes we can survive without lights and it's only the internet connectivity that worries me.
The news is that the old powerstations are on the edge of totally collapsing.

They were already old at my time of working on the towers, but excellent maintenance kept them in great form. Then with the change of governments, the specialists left and maintenance also stopped.
Now we are in real trouble.

Oh my, this is hard to believe it is happening in 2021. An internet collapse would be very harmful for businesses

Oh yes, we are in what they call a developing country, but instead of developing, we are regressing.
Businesses have already suffered from the Covid lockdowns and the future does not look very good.
With all of our internet signal interruptions it can only get worse.

I hope it will be better, I know we are living tough times and only faith and our belief in God can help us.

Oh yes, we and you have been through many storms in life, but we are all still standing by Grace.
So the name of the game is to endure and to cope with whatever life throws at us.
Battered, but victorious we will emerge when our journey is over.
