A short walk at the river.

Some beautiful birds and how to get a dragonfly on macro.
Come and see how I work in nature.

First a shot of the river flow over an obstacle in the sunlight.

Oh! I posted without an introduction, so let me fix it.

Greetings to all and I know that some of you are waiting for Part 2 of the Sun Explosion post that I did earlier Here
But I will do the post tomorrow, as I need time to do it and with all of the forced power cuts here time is of the essence.
In the meantime come and enjoy this post.

This little Swee Waxbill was looking for a spot to bath.
343.jpg

And so The Swee (Coccopygia melanotis) popped down on a rock.
344.jpg

Oh yes he looked and he knew that the water flow was too strong. Then he took off to go and search for another spot.
345.jpg

One of my favorite places at the river to hunt for shots.

Now for the dragonfly.

Please have a look and tell me that you can see the dragonfly.
Bottom of the picture in the middle on a rock

Invariably when a dragonfly sits, it means that is his territory and that he will stay around. So when I move in then I am not worried that he will fly away, as I know that he will return.

Ah! It is a Navy Dropwing (Trithemis furva), but now how did I get this shot?
320.jpg

And oh yes, he did return and I was ready and waiting. The way to do it is to move in as close as possible and then to sit and wait. No movement must be made, as dragonflies have a wide eyesight and if anything out of the ordinary in their natural surrounds moves, then they take off.
So one has to blend in with the surrounds and get him immediately on camera after he landed.

I think that I got him okay and it's a pity that I couldn't get a side view of him, as he sat facing the wind.
325.jpg

Finally, I can never get enough of this view.
314.jpg

So another short walk was done during our power blackout and we returned home. Let me tell you that there are both struggles and opportunities when the power gets shut down. Yes, the economy and the businesses suffer losses and so do ordinary citizens.
But it also offers an opportunity to get out there and to go and explore beautiful places that one would normally be too busy to visit.
We enjoy our short walks in nature.

And That's All Friends!

That looks like a really nice place, Zac, and yes, I have seen the dragonfly in the first photo - nice one 😃
The last photo looks cool with the tree trunk and the red flowers in the foreground.

Thank you Hannes, yes I like the peace that I find at that place and there is even a bench for Marian to sit on 😊

Yep again as I am hooked on that view. I only wonder where the red Nasturtium flowers come from?
Maybe some of the smaller birds sat there and had the seeds in their droppings.

Cheers and thanks.

I would also think that these flowers came from the poop of birds or so. My sister has had some really weird plants once in her garden which definitely came from birds which ate such seeds.

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

Oh yes, birds and squirrels, as I watched a squirrel today burying another avocado pip.
The first two avocado trees that they planted are growing nicely and when they reach 1 meter height, I will take one out and give it away 😘

Birds sow many flowers with their poop 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

It is true that the power cut may help in a way. But it must be very annoying at the same time. We are so much dependant on it. I remember when I was little and we had power cuts. Especially in winter, not nice at all.

The dragonfly on the first picture hardly can be seen if you don't point where to look. 😀 But I found it, it is real beauty.

Debilitating times here with the power cuts Lady Neli and it sows much confusion in the workplace.
We have had it for a few years now and it will continue for more years, but still, one can never get used to it. Not nice at all.

Hahaha, I didn't say where the dragonfly was, as I wanted you to test your eyes and congratulations on finding it. So you have passed the test 🤣

Here's your prize !PIZZA
