A peacock rest today.

They call this a stretch of the wings to cool in the heat.
185.jpg

Pity that I couldn't get him clear, but it happened in a moment and he was moving in the sun.

But it doesn't matter as I got them clear in the rest of the photos.
We were on our way to the open air restaurant on a farm for a cup of their tasty home made coffee. I think that I am becoming addicted to it :)
We also saw some new developments in the public visitors area and I will wait until it's complete to show you lovely new attractions.
Any case let's watch the Peacocks.

As we drove past the pear orchards, this couple of males appeared.
I call it synchronized foraging as they were perfectly in step.
196.JPG

The one decided to lay down for a rest in the sun, as it was dark under the pear trees in the orchard.
199.JPG

Keeping an eye on our car as I took the shots.
201.JPG

The other guy saw my camera and he jealously stepped in front of the resting one to pose for his photo.
203.JPG

Then the cheeky bugger approached us, Hey, he said, why are you only taking photos of Olly?, I am Solly and look how beautiful I am.
206.JPG

As usual we were near the mountains.

102.JPG

Wonderful to go out to the farms as there is always something going on and I really look forward to our visits. Any short break is great to reduce and manage the stresses that we have to endure in our charity work, as normally it consists of an avalanche of moans and groans.
That's why I don't chat much on hive, as my posts offer me the chance to step away from everything for a short while.

Poor Marian sits anchored at her PC at certain times of our days, as currently she has 317 students to lecture and this makes these short breaks so much more valuable for us.
We are also in the dwang with the Papillon income, but I just continue to plug away here in hive, as it might be a real saver to our charity projects.

We hope that you have enjoyed the post.

And That's All Friends.

Solly seems to be a bit egotistical LOL

Peacocks are such beautiful birds but they can be territorial at times, there was some near when I grew up and they were downright ornery at times

Hahaha, thank you JJ and yes, it's like the mountain goat @johannpiber said below. Peacocks know that they are beautiful. Egoistical is indeed a good way to describe them 😊

I can't remember to ever have seen the wings of a peacock. The tail yes, but never flying or spread their wings. They are beautiful birds though and even if no bird would know that it's beautiful, the peacock would.

Thank you and I think that you might have seen this one before.
It was a peacock that claimed Marian as his own at the Drakensberg.
Just thought to show you an open winged Peacock 😉 !LOLZ

Good evening Zac,

yep, that's how I know them, but I can't remember to have seen one flying, although I am not sure if they really can fly far distances.

You're most welcome, Zac 😀

Oh yes, they cannot fly long distances as their bodies are too heavy, but they can effectively lift themselves up into trees and onto roofs. Especially when there are dogs around 🦅

Cheers and thanks.

I think I could also fly a little bit if an angry dog was running up to me 😁

Hahaha, now I will not fall in your trap here by saying that with my big ears I will fly higher than you if an angry dog chases me 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Just between you and me a strange thing is happening to me lately. I used to have excellent balance at great heights, but lately I seem to struggle with balance even when I walk.
We think that the reason is all of the pills that I take every day.

Hahaha, I will now never forget Dumbo 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Oh these damn pills, Zac, so often you have told me that they all cause side effects and you need some because of the side effects of others and so on. That's really not good and I wished I would know a solution.

Sadly no solution my friend. I have a choice however. Leave the pills and die from from a massive stroke, or take the pills and live for a new years more.
At a recent visit to the doctor I asked him again if there is no way that I can drop the pills.
He was adamant that I have to take them for the rest of my life.
But I tell you today in all earnestness that if the side effects make that I can no longer control myself, then I will leave the pills.

Cheers and thanks.

No, my friend, that doesn't sound good, but the doctor and you are right, it's better to take the pills, and you shouldn't stop taking them even if it gets worse.

Peacocks always stand their ground, Solly came over to chase you from his patch!

Image the beauty within each feather, we look at the overall bird never taking it into though the inner markings that allow one spectacular display.

Hahaha, lucky for us we are used to peacocks Lady Joan.

Oh yes, they have many unseen colors and the sun helps to highlight them.

Peacock and Egyptian Goose appearing more frequently in many places one visits, both stunning feathers neither scared of humans.

Have a great day!

Some of the female peacocks eat out of Marian's hand and of course you know Harry and Sally.
They are on holiday and we expect them back when summer ends.

Hope that you also had a good day my friend.

Hahaha, yes, that little cheeky is a real pleasure to watch at work and I was always so sad to see him losing his colors and tail at the end of the season.

Hope that you guys will also have a good one.

We have been fortunate this is the second or third year with pin-tailed whydah. Also seeing other smaller birds visit more often than previous years.

Oh yes, and hopefully when he is finally done, then one of the male children will take over.
Lack of food drives the flocks closer to the urban areas.

Having lots of places to escape into has helped tremendously, allowing cover over concrete walls where they nest.

Bird feeder with water a great help inviting them to stay.

Thank you milady and yes there is so much about God that we do not know.
But then again, all that we really need to know is that He loves creation and He loves us undeserving souls.
