A new discovery!

Always so refreshing to discover a new photographic spot and we were really not disappointed.

Early morning out in nature is indeed a fabulous time, as we can then watch nature come alive. Yes, the glaring early sun makes photography difficult but the colors that the sun awakens are so worth the struggle.
Come and have a look at some magic!

From the left, an African Darter (Anhinga rufa) and at the right we have a family of White Breasted Cormorants (Phalacrocorax lucidus)

A pair of African Black Ducks (Anas sparsa) came cruising along.

Another great reflection shot of a Cormorant and the African Darter.

And finally a full picture of the African Darter.

As usual I took many other interesting photos that I will show you in future posts and the area around this dam is simply breathtakingly beautiful. I was also told that the famous African Fish Eagles also often visit this dam and that is indeed good news for our future forays and discoveries.

And That's All Friends!

Note: All photos are my own and taken with a Canon Powershot SX60HS Bridge camera.

We hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Beautiful birds. I think I haven´t had the pleasure to meet this cormorant species yet. Only seen the double crested so far :)

Thank you kindly and I sent you a link, as they are only found in the southern hemisphere.

The white-breasted cormorant is the only form of great cormorant found in Sub-Saharan Africa, the only form that has strictly freshwater populations and the only form with a white breast and throat; it does however interbreed freely with dark-breasted forms in central Africa. It has a wide distribution; on the west coast from the Cape Verde Islands to Guinea-Bissau and from Angola to the Cape of Good Hope and northwards on the east coast to Mozambique.

Although I have to say that the African Darter (the one with the straight sharp beak) also called the Snake Bird is my favorite, as he is an excellent fisherman.
