Gaining their trust - Ganando su confianza

Undoubtedly, when birds feel our good intentions, they lose their fear of approaching us and giving us the best of themselves. Powerful bonds can be built with birds when they manage to trust us and unimaginable experiences can be lived.

Sin lugar a dudas cuando las aves sienten nuestras buenas intensiones pierden el miedo de acercarse hasta nosotros y regalarnos lo mejor de ellas. Pueden construirse poderosos vínculos con las aves cuando ellas logran confiar en nosotros y se pueden vivir experiencias inimaginables.

Harriers are the scavenger birds par excellence in the region where I live. We usually see them on roadsides feeding on the carcasses of roadkill or in fields hunting small rodents and snakes.

Los aguiluchos son las aves carroñeras por excelencia en la región en la que vivo. Solemos verlas en la orilla de las carreteras alimentándose de cuerpos de animales muertos o bien en campos cazando pequeños roedores y serpientes.

True to their scavenging and opportunistic style, they tend to be extremely attentive and distrustful birds that flee quickly when they feel threatened.

Fiel a su estilo carroñero y oportunista suelen ser aves sumamente atentas y desconfiadas que huyen rápidamente cuando se sienten amenazadas.

On the other hand, when they feel safe and out of danger, they usually remain calm and are able to give us the best photographs. Our task will be to move with smooth movements so that they do not feel threatened.

En cambio cuando se sientes seguras y fuera de peligro suelen permanecer tranquilas y son capaces de regalarnos las mejores fotografías. Nuestra tarea consistirá en desplazarnos con movimientos suaves para que ellas no se sientan amenazadas.

In the house that my parents have in a beach near my city my parents have managed to generate a great relationship with these birds which they feed daily with beef. They know that every day at a certain time my parents will leave the house with food for them.

En la casa que mis padres tienen en un la playa cercana a mi ciudad mis padres han logrado generar una gran relación con estas aves a las cuales alimentan a diario con carne vacuna. Ellas saben que todos los días a determinada hora mis padres saldrán de la casa con comida para ellas.

If for some reason my parents don't go out with the food at the usual time, more than fifteen eaglets circle around the house, screeching wildly to let us know they are there waiting for their food.

Si por alguna razón alguno de los días mis padres no salen con el alimento a la hora de siempre comienzan a volar en círculos alrededor de la casa más de quince ejemplares de aguiluchos que chillan desenfrenadamente para saber que están allí esperando por su comida.

While they eat, my podres can be very close to them without fearing their presence. Without a doubt my parents and these birds have built a relationship in which both are comfortable and trusting of each other.

Mientras ellas comen mis podres pueden estar muy cerca de ellas, sin que sientan temor por su presencia. Sin lugar a dudas mis padres y estas aves, han construido una relación en la cual ambos están cómodos y confiados el uno del otro.

This relationship helps to keep my parents' house clean of rodents, spiders and snakes, which is very important, since the place is not very urbanized and there are usually all kinds of animals that can enter the house at some point.

Esta relación que han logrado afianzar ayuda a mantener limpia de roedores, arañas y serpientes la casa de mis padres lo cual es muy importante, ya que al estar poco urbanizado el lugar suelen encontrarse toda clase de animales que en algún momento pueden ingresar a la casa.
