My first hive account became an NFT

I minted my first hive account as an NFT today after leaving it to create a new one since six months now. I minted it to serve as a reminder to me and perhaps an example to others what happens when you treat your security keys with levity hands in this crypto era.

Meanwhile, someone asked me of recent about how to mint an NFT and have it on opensea. So I figured this would be a perfect time to share with others, but first let's make sure we understand what NFT means.

Non fungible tokens (NFTs) are unique piece stored on the block chain and could be bought or sold. These piece could be photos, videos, audios or unique work of arts. They can be traded and most times have use case. Other times people buy them just for the satisfaction of it.

Weird right? I know. That's why a lot of people see it as a bubble though a few others think its something that will have so much important or use in the nearest future. Just like the idea of internet or cryptocurrency seemed surreal sometimes back, it is believed by some that it is an investment for the future. In the metaverse maybe. Though it is currently being used in games like the splinter lands where you need cards to play.

So yeah, here is the summary of how I minted my jpg as an NFT.

1. Get a metamask account.
2. Link it with opensea
3. Go to opensea and use the 'create' interface on and you are good to go.

OK, here is the break down.
I already have a metamask account so I went straight to open sea. But if you don't have it you can download and set it up.

The create icon is hard to miss on opensea. If you don't find it on display Like mine, tap on the 'three lines' icon at the top right corner and you'll find it there.

Go ahead and upload your unique piece, fill in the prompts, use the polygon gas free network to mint more than one of them if you want to mint for free.

After you have successfully minted it, you'd be prompted to enlist it on open sea and put a price tag. Go ahead with that prompt if you want to enlist it for sale.
