I Knitted a Cardigan For The First Time

Hello, dear hivers;

I love knitting. I often share the bags I knit with you, but I have always knitted bags until this time. This time I took it one step further and knitted myself a cardigan.

The final version of my cardigan

As we know, we are now in the autumn months and the weather has started to cool down even in Antalya. I was thinking of doing some winter shopping, but since the prices have gone up, you have to think long and hard when buying something. I had many pieces of yarn and I started to think whether I should knit a cardigan myself instead of buying one. The most practical method to evaluate the pieces of yarn is the grenny square model. I thought it wouldn't hurt to try it and started knitting.

First I knitted granny squares, using different colors of yarn I had on hand. This year I'm very interested in colorful things and I want to wear vibrant colors, but my closet is usually full of gray, brown, beige. So I tried to use a lot of vibrant colors in this cardigan. I used size 3.5 crochet and cotton yarn to knit the cardigan.

Each granny square measured 11x11 cm. I used 6 squares for the length of the cardigan, 5 rows of squares for the back, so 30 squares in total, 32 squares of 16 x2 for the front and 2 half motifs for the collar.

You can adjust the size of the model by changing the number of motifs. You can knit longer or shorter models. You can also change the size of the motifs and make changes on the size. It is possible to adjust the size easily through the motifs.

If you wish, you can not knit the sleeves and use them as a vest, but since I am not a vest person, I preferred it as a cardigan. I knitted the colors I used in the motifs evenly on the sleeve in the order I determined and my cardigan is ready to wear.

Now I am looking forward to the day when the weather gets colder and I wear my cardigan.
