Summer Festivals
Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome.🤗
Different summer local traditions are been celebrated in different states in my country. Like in Osun State, there's a festival called the Osun-Osogbo Festival, and this is usually celebrated in honor of a deity called the river goddess Osun.
Then there's the most popular local tradition that's celebrated by different ethnic groups, and the way it's been celebrated in different states is totally different from the other region; it's called the new yam festival. This festival usually marks the end of the rainy season in some regions and the beginning of the new yam harvest.
The new yam festival is mostly popular amongst the Igbo people of the eastern part of Nigeria, but it's also been celebrated by South Southern and some parts of the north central and western of Nigeria.
The new yam festival is like a Thanksgiving festival for the gods and ancestors, thanking them for a bountiful harvest. It also involves yam tasting, communal celebration, and cultural dance.
THANK YOU FOR READING TO THE END 🤗
