Hello beautiful people! I hope you're all doing great and if you're not, you will be soon! I share with you my entry for the Splinterlands art contest. This time I wanted to take two non-human characters to combine them and make something together, since I didn't want to draw a human character per se. So I found these two characters super different from what I normally do and took them as a reference to do something different. These two cards are "Cornealus" and "Ever-Hungry Skull".
Hola gente bonita! Espero estén super bien todos y si no lo están, pronto lo estarán! Les comparto mi entrada para el concurso de arte por parte de Splinterlands. Esta vez quise tomar dos personajes que no fuesen humanos para combinarlos y hacer algo en conjunto, ya que no quería dibujar un personaje humano en sí. Así que encontré estos dos personajes super distintos a lo que hago con normalidad y los tome como referencia para hacer algo distinto. Estas dos cartas son "Cornealus" y "Ever-Hungry Skull".

I started by drawing the sketch in my sketchbook, to give me an idea of what the overall drawing would look like. When I had my idea a little bit structured, I took a picture of the sketch and passed it to Clip Studio Paint to start improving my idea.
Comencé dibujando el boceto en mi sketchbook, para darme una idea de como quedaría el dibujo en general. Cuando tuve un poco estructurada mi idea, le tome una foto al boceto y la pase al Clip Studio Paint para comenzar a mejorar mi idea.
Being in digital, I got a better idea for the drawing and instead of just leaving Cornealus under Ever-Hungry Skull as simple as that, I got the idea to make some hands holding him and thus make the composition look better and not so empty. Finally I got a clean and clear sketch of what I wanted to do with both cards combined in a single character.
Estando en digital, me entro una mejor idea para el dibujo y es que en vez de solo dejar que Cornealus este debajo de Ever-Hungry Skull así de simple, me entro la idea de hacer que unas manos lo estén sosteniendo y así hacer que la composición se vea mejor y no tan vacía. Quedando por fin una boceto limpio y claro de lo que quería hacer con ambas cartas combinadas en un solo personaje.

Once I had all the line art work ready, I started working on the color and as I have always said, to build my color palette, I base it on the colors of the color palette of the original character, but in this case as there are two cards, what I did was to take the colors of both illustrations and stay with tones that combine or have some harmony in itself, depending 100% of the chromatic circle to build what would become my final color palette for my drawing.
Una vez que tuve todo el trabajo de line art listo, paso a trabajar el color y como siempre lo he dicho, para armar mi paleta de color, me baso en los colores de la paleta de color del personaje original, pero en este caso como son dos cartas, lo que hice fue tomar los colores de ambas ilustraciones y quedarme con tonos que se combinaran o que tuvieran cierta armonía en sí, dependiendo al 100% del circulo cromático para armar lo que vendría siendo mi paleta de color final para mi dibujo.

After I have my final color palette for the drawing, what I do is to start adding the base colors throughout the illustration, starting with light blue as the main base color. Once I have all the colors integrated in each area of the drawing, what I do next is to start detailing everything, adding darker tones and mixing little by little. I always work the shadows at the same time I am adding the color and detailing, because this way I can see the contrast that is emerging with the colors.
Luego de tener mi paleta de color final para el dibujo, lo que hago es comenzar a agregar los colores base en toda la ilustración, comenzando con azul claro como color base principal. Una vez tengo todos los colores integrados en cada zona del dibujo, lo que hago después es comenzar a detallar todo, agregando tonos más oscuros y mezclando poco a poco. Siempre trabajo las sombras a la par que voy agregando el color y detallando, ya que así voy viendo el contraste que va surgiendo con los colores.

The brushes I use to add and detail everything are watercolor brushes and the other one is a paint mixer, so I'm adding color and mixing them throughout the illustration step by step. Finally I add a couple of final details to the drawing, which are simply some glitters in a big part of the illustration and I also do the background and that's it folks, that would be all.
Los pinceles que uso para agregar y detallar todo son de acuarela y el otro es un mezclador de pintura, así que voy agregando color y mezclando los mismos en toda la ilustración paso a paso. Por ultimo agrego un par de detalles finales al dibujo, que simplemente son unos brillos en gran parte de la ilustración y también hago el fondo y listo amigos, eso seria todo.

The large, floating eyeball monster known as Cornealus has strange magical powers and can see anything for miles in any direction. No one knows from whence it came.
💀 Ever-Hungry Skull 💀
Skulls of slain vampires sometimes become re-animated with necromancy, allowing the spirit of the former vampire to possess it once again. This is used for dark rituals, for information gathering, and even by necromancers with a macabre sense of humor. The souls are not happy with their situation, but often seek to turn the tide in their favor. They will go along with what their captor asks in hopes of returning to a full body.
These skulls still feel the bloodthirst they did in their lives, driving them to be very ruthless and foul-tempered. They have no empathy and can prove very cunning in their strategies and words. For instance, the necromantic power flowing through the skull left a mark and each one is protected by a nearly imperceptible magic shield. When harmed by any weapon, the skull lashes out with the magic used to create it to harm the attacker. The necromancers that keep these skulls must walk a fine line between harming them and distrusting anything the skull says.
