Master Class with Orestes Gomez [photos]

On March 12th I had the pleasure of participating in Orestes Gomez's master class, a renowned Venezuelan musician, drummer and producer. A multifaceted musician who has performed on drums, production and musical composition, proving to be a person who is constantly expanding his knowledge.

Being a musician with a wide range of skills, a master class covering a variety of topics was expected. Some of these topics include: the different types of drummers, the necessary equipment, skills, and programs for each type; how to create sequences and work with samples and triggers; as well as some reflections on the importance of finding happiness through music and being able to discern what job we truly enjoy in the industry.

El pasado 12 de Marzo tuve el gusto de asistir a la master class de Orestes Gomez, reconocido músico, baterista y productor venezolano. Un músico multifacético que ha incursionando en la batería, la producción y composición musical, demostrando ser una persona que esta en constante expansion de sus conocimientos.

Al ser un músico con un amplio abanico de habilidades, era de esperar una clase magistral que abarcase una gran variedad de temas. Algunos de estos temas incluyen: los diferentes tipos de baterista, el equipo necesario, habilidades y programas para cada tipo; cómo crear secuencias y trabajar con samples y triggers; así como algunas reflexiones sobre la importancia de encontrar la felicidad a través de la música y ser capaces de discernir qué trabajo nos gusta realmente en la industria.

As a spectator, I am satisfied with this master class. We were allowed to ask many questions and talked about a wide range of topics, from production and music marketing to drum rudiments and how to use Ableton Live. In addition to the technical aspects of music, Orestes' reflections on music and the music industry led me to think more deeply about my career and the ways in which I can explore and exploit my creativity.

The class was incredibly enriching and inspiring. I took copious notes in my notebook and also recorded several parts of the master class in audio and video. This material will not only serve as a memento but also as study material.

Como espectadora, estoy satisfecha con esta clase magistral. Se nos permitió hacer muchas preguntas y hablamos de temas muy diversos, desde producción y marketing musical hasta rudimentos de batería y cómo utilizar Ableton Live. Además de los aspectos técnicos de la música, las reflexiones de Orestes sobre la música y la industria musical me llevaron a pensar más profundamente en mi carrera y en las formas en que puedo explorar y explotar mi creatividad.

La clase fue increíblemente enriquecedora e inspiradora. Tomé muchas notas en mi cuaderno y también grabé varias partes de la clase magistral en audio y vídeo. Este material no sólo me servirá de recuerdo, sino también de material de estudio.

As a way to share the valuable insights and knowledge I obtained from the master class, I am currently working on editing a video recap of the event. This video will include more details about the topics that were discussed during the master class. Additionally, I plan to include some of the reflections that Orestes shared about the importance of being happy through the instrument.

I believe that this video recap will serve as a great resource not only for me to revisit what I learned in the master class but also for others who were not able to attend the event. I am thrilled about the opportunity to share my experience with others and contribute to the growth of the music community.

Como forma de compartir las valiosas ideas y conocimientos que obtuve en la clase magistral, actualmente estoy trabajando en la edición de un vídeo de recapitulación del evento. Este vídeo incluirá más detalles sobre los temas que se trataron durante la clase magistral. Además, planeo incluir algunas de las reflexiones que Orestes compartió sobre la importancia de ser feliz a través del instrumento.

Creo que esta recapitulación en vídeo servirá como un gran recurso no sólo para mí, para volver a repasar lo que aprendí en la clase magistral, sino también para otras personas que no pudieron asistir al evento. Estoy muy contenta por poder compartir mi experiencia con los demás y contribuir al crecimiento de la comunidad musical.
